The present study aimed to detect the expression of metastasis associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) and microRNA (miR)-619-5p in colorectal carcinoma (CRC), and to evaluate the significance of MALAT1 and miR-619-5p expression in the clinical diagnosis and prognosis of CRC. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction was used to detect MALAT1 and miR-619-5p expression in 120 colorectal carcinoma and 120 adjacent normal tissue samples. The expression levels of MALAT1 and miR-619-5p were significantly different between colorectal carcinoma and adjacent normal tissues (P<0.

DIX domain containing 1 (Dixdc1), a positive regulator of Wnt signaling pathway, is recently reported to play a role in the neurogenesis. However, the distribution and function of Dixdc1 in the central nervous system (CNS) after brain injury are still unclear. We used an acute traumatic brain injury (TBI) model in adult rats to investigate whether Dixdc1 is involved in CNS injury and repair.

Interferon regulatory factor 3 (IRF3) is a member of IRF family which plays a significant role in the innate immune response, apoptosis, and oncogenesis. Mounting evidence has demonstrated that IRF3 was involved in central nervous system disease such as cerebral ischemic injury through promoting neuronal apoptosis. However, it remains unclear about the underlying mechanisms of IRF3 upon neuronal apoptosis following intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH).

Poly(C)‑binding protein 2 (PCBP2) is a member of the PCBP family, and plays an important role in post‑transcriptional and translational regulation of various signaling molecules through direct binding to single‑stranded poly(C) motifs. PCBP2 has been reported to play a critical role in the development of multiple human tumors. However, whether PCBP2 participates in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development remains largely elusive.

Src-associated in mitosis (Sam68; 68 kDa) is a novel RNA-binding protein that belongs to the signal transduction and activation of RNA family involved in various biological processes. However, the expression and roles of Sam68 in the central nervous system remain unknown. In the present study, we performed a spinal cord injury (SCI) model in adult rats and found a significant increase of Sam68 protein levels in this model, which reached a peak at day 3 and then gradually returned to normal levels at day 14 after SCI.

The cell division cycle 6 (CDc6) protein has been primarily investigated as a component of the pre-replicative complex for the initiation of DNA replication. Some studies have shown that CDc6 played a critical role in the development of human carcinoma. However, the expression and roles of CDc6 in the central nervous system remain unknown.

IRF-1, a kind of transcription factor, is expressed in many cell types, except in early embryonal cells. IRF-1 has played an essential role in various physiological and pathological processes, including tumor immune surveillance, viral infection, development of immunity system and pro-inflammatory injury. However, the expression and function of IRF-1 in spinal cord injury (SCI) are still unknown.
