Background: The normal development of the liver during human embryonic stages is critical for the functionality of the adult liver. Despite this, the essential genes, biological processes, and signal pathways that drive liver development in human embryos remain poorly understood.
Methods: In this study, liver samples were collected from human embryos at progressive developmental stages, ranging from 2-month-old to 7-month-old.

The long-term impact of postoperative morbidity following laparoscopic liver resection for hepatocellular carcinoma is unclear. This study aimed to investigate whether the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma patients were affected by postoperative morbidity after laparoscopic liver resection. Hepatocellular carcinoma patients who underwent curative-intent laparoscopic liver resection were included.

Objective: To evaluate the baseline albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) grade's role in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) receiving transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) plus anti-angiogenesis therapies and PD-1 inhibitors (TACE+TP) versus anti-angiogenesis therapies and PD-1 inhibitors (TP).
Methods: This multicenter retrospective study enrolled advanced HCC undergoing TACE+TP or TP from January 2019 to June 2023 at three hospitals in China. The primary outcomes were time to progression of the ALBI grade and change in ALBI score between the initial baseline and the final assessment point available, the secondary outcomes consisted of overall survival (OS) as well as progression-free survival (PFS).

Tumor angiogenesis and the presence of cancer stem cells (CSCs) are critical characteristics of tumors. Previous research has demonstrated that cancer stem cells promote tumor angiogenesis, while increased vascularity, in turn, fosters the growth of cancer stem cells. This creates a detrimental cycle that contributes to tumor progression.

Coronary artery fistulae (CAF) are a rare anomaly characterized by abnormal connections between a coronary artery and a cardiac chamber or a great vessel, with most patients remaining asymptomatic. Despite being predisposed to severe complications like heart failure, patients with CAF infrequently experience severe stenosis in the coronary artery. This study delineates a case involving a 46-year-old male presenting with a fistula bridging the right coronary artery (RCA) and right atrium (RA), manifesting a pronounced 99% stenosis at the right extremity of the coronary artery proximal to the fistula.

Background: To investigate the incidence and risk factors of oral mucositis in patients with malignant tumors.
Methods: A total of 74 patients with malignant tumors who were hospitalized in the Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University from January 2020 to December 2020 were selected and divided into two groups according to whether oral mucositis occurred (n=45) or not (n=29). Chi-square test was used to compare the general data between the two groups, and multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to investigate the risk factors of oral mucositis in patients with malignant tumors.

The present study aimed to define the tumor-suppressive role of microRNA-499 (miR-499) in lung cancer cells and its underlying mechanism. First, qRT-PCR analysis revealed poor expression of miR-499 in clinical samples and cell lines of lung cancer. Next, we performed loss- and gain-of-function experiments for the expression of miR-499 in lung cancer cells exposed to irradiation (IR) to determine the effect of miR-499 expression on cell viability and apoptosis as well as tumor growth.

MicroRNA-24-3p (miR-24-3p) has been implicated as a key promoter of chemotherapy resistance in numerous cancers. Meanwhile, cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) can secret exosomes to transfer miRNAs, which mediate tumour development. However, little is known regarding the molecular mechanism of CAF-derived exosomal miR-24-3p in colon cancer (CC).
