Objective: To investigate the epidemiological characteristics and diagnosis of malaria cases in Nantong City from 2015 to 2020, so as to provide insights into the prevention of re-establishment of imported malaria and consolidation of malaria elimination achievements in the city.

Methods: The epidemic data of malaria in Nantong City from 2015 to 2020 were captured from the National Notifiable Disease Report System, the Information Management System for Parasitic Disease Control and individual epidemiological survey reports of malaria cases. The malaria parasite species, source of infections, population distribution, temporal distribution, spatial distribution and diagnosis of imported malaria cases were descriptively and statistically analyzed.

Methods: A total of 67 schistosomiasis-endemic counties in 10 cities were selected, and a combination of retrospective investigation and on-site investigation was adopted to collect and record the epidemic data of the counties from 2010 to 2015, and a retrospective survey database of epidemic situation was established. The effects of integrated control strategies with both snail control and infection source control were evaluated.

Methods: The controlled field tests were carried out to observe the snails artificially infected by schistosome miracidia in SENEAS. The influence of the soil from SENEAS and the endemic areas on snails artificially infected by miracidia were observed.

Objective: To understand the quality of malaria blood examinations in township-level hospitals, so as to provide the evidence for continuing the malaria blood examinations in the stage of post-malaria elimination.

Methods: A total of 64 township hospitals were investigated and 640 negative malaria blood slides were scored individually according to 10 indicators in "Malaria Elimination Technical Scheme" in 2013 and 2014. The single and multiple indicators were calculated, and the work of blood examinations and situation of technicians were investigated.

Stathmin 1 (STMN1) is an important molecule in regulating cellular microtubule dynamics and promoting microtubule depolymerization in interphase and late mitosis. Evidences showed that STMN1 was up-regulated in many cancers, but there was no report about the roles of STMN1 in human cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC). Here, we confirmed significant upregulation of STMN1 in cSCC tissues and cell lines compared with non-tumor counterparts.

Objective: To discover the imported infection sources of schistosomiasis as early as possible.

Methods: Boat fishermen were screened with DDIA and the positive ones were tested by the hatching method or Kato-Katz technique.

Results: From 2006 to 2010, 2 951 boat fishermen along the Yangtze River in Nantong City were tested with DDIA for schistosomiasis and 17 positive cases were found, while 1 case was positive in the feces examination.

Objective: To analyze the characteristics of imported falciparum malaria cases of Nantong City in the recent ten years so as to provide the evidence for improving prevention and control of malaria in the future.

Methods: The data about imported falciparum malaria cases of Nantong City from 2001 to 2010 were collected and analyzed for the characteristics and distribution of the patients by the retrospective method. RESULTS; There were 79 imported falciparum malaria cases in the last 10 years.
