Mater Today Bio

December 2024

Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China.

Article Synopsis
  • - Arthropods offer valuable insights into bionic engineering due to their unique body structures and remarkable self-healing and antibacterial capabilities, which can help improve wound management techniques.
  • - Four key aspects are essential for developing biomimetic materials based on arthropods: ingredients, behavior, structure, and internal reactions, with a focus on their active compounds for antibacterial and healing properties.
  • - The ideal arthropod-inspired materials should effectively enhance wound healing by mimicking the special structures and properties of arthropods, and their innovative applications hold significant potential in medical fields.

Circ_0060927 promotes colorectal cancer development by sponging miR-331-3p and upregulating TBX2.

Pathol Res Pract

December 2024

Department of Oncology, Nantong First People's Hospital and Second Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University, 666 Shengli Road, Chongchuan District, Nantong City, Jiangsu, China. Electronic address:

Background: The dysregulation of circular RNAs (circRNAs) is closely associated with the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer (CRC). The present study aimed to elucidate the biological function and mechanism of circ_0060927 in CRC.

Methods: 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine, Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), flow cytometry and transwell assays, as well as Xenograft tumor models were adopted for in vitro and in vivo analyses.

TOETVA: a single surgeon's learning curve and a case report of CASTLE thyroid tumor.

Langenbecks Arch Surg

October 2023

Department of Thyroid and Breast Surgery, Nantong City No 1 People's Hospital and Second Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University, Chongchuan District, No. 6, North Child Lane, Nantong, Jiangsu, China.

Background: Owing to the lack of visible scars, the transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA) offers superior aesthetic outcomes compared to conventional thyroidectomy. Carcinoma showing thymus-like differentiation (CASTLE) represents a rare thyroid gland neoplasm. This study aimed to explore the TOETVA learning curve and present a case report of CASTLE.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) ranks first in incidence among women, with approximately 2 million new cases per year. Therefore, it is essential to investigate emerging targets for BC patients' diagnosis and prognosis.

Methods: We analyzed gene expression data from 99 normal and 1,081 BC tissues in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database.

May 2023

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, School of Medicine & Holistic Integrative Medicine, Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, No.138 Xianlin Avenue, Nanjing 210023, Jiangsu, China. Electronic address:

Alternative polyadenylation (APA) is a widespread mechanism generating RNA molecules with alternative 3' ends. Herein, we discovered that TargetScan includes a novel XBP1 transcript with a longer 3' untranslated region (UTR) (XBP1-UL) than that included in NCBI. XBP1-UL exhibited a lowered level in blood samples from lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) patients and in those after DDP treatment.

Exosomal LOC85009 inhibits docetaxel resistance in lung adenocarcinoma through regulating ATG5-induced autophagy.

Drug Resist Updat

March 2023

Department of Medical Oncology, Ren Ji Hospital, School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, No.160 Pujian Road, Pudong New District, Shanghai, 200127, China; Department of Oncology, Nantong City No. 1 People's Hospital and Second Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University, No. 666, Shengli Road, Nantong 226000, Jiangsu Province, China. Electronic address:

Aims: This study aims at investigating the role of a neighbor long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) of HDAC4 (LOC85009) in docetaxel (DTX) resistance of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD).

Methods: RT-qPCR was used to analyze LOC85009 expression in DTX-resistant LUAD cells. In vitro and in vivo experiments were applied to detect the influence of LOC85009 on LUAD cell growth and xenograft tumor growth.

Introduction: Infected pancreatic necrosis (IPN) and its related septic complications are the major causes of death in patients with acute necrotising pancreatitis (ANP). Therefore, the prevention of IPN is of great clinical value, and immunomodulatory therapy with thymosin alpha 1 may be beneficial. This study was designed to test the hypothesis that the administration of thymosin alpha 1 during the acute phase of ANP will result in a reduced incidence of IPN.
