Microstructural changes in the median and ulnar nerve in people with and without diabetic neuropathy in their hands: A cross-sectional diffusion MRI study.

Purpose: Diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) has revealed microstructural changes in lower limb nerves in people with diabetic neuropathy. Microstructural changes in upper limb nerves using DWI in people with diabetes have not yet been explored.

Methods: This cross-sectional study aimed to quantify and compare the microstructure of the median and ulnar nerve in people without diabetes (n = 10), people with diabetes without distal symmetrical polyneuropathy (DSPN; n = 10), people with DSPN in the lower limbs only (DSPN ; n = 12), and people with DSPN in the upper and lower limbs (DSPN ; n = 9).

Islet-after-kidney transplantation versus kidney alone in kidney transplant recipients with type 1 diabetes (KAIAK): a population-based target trial emulation in France.

Background: Islet transplantation has been associated with better metabolic control and quality of life than insulin treatment alone, but direct evidence of its effect on hard clinical endpoints is scarce. We aimed to assess the effect of islet transplantation on patient-graft survival in kidney transplant recipients with type 1 diabetes.

Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, we enrolled all patients with type 1 diabetes who received a kidney graft in France during the study period, identified from the CRISTAL nationwide registry.

Background And Purpose: Vasospasm is a common iatrogenic event during mechanical thrombectomy (MT). In such circumstances, intra-arterial nimodipine administration is occasionally considered. However, its use in the treatment of iatrogenic vasospasm during MT has been poorly studied.

Haemodynamic effect of dexmedetomidine during paediatric kidney transplantation.

Background: Dexmedetomidine is increasingly used for its ability to stabilise haemodynamic status during general anaesthesia. However, there is currently no data on paediatric kidney transplant recipients (pKTR). This study investigates the haemodynamic impact of dexmedetomidine administered perioperatively in pKTR.

Evaluation of non-invasive biomarkers of kidney allograft rejection in a prospective multicenter unselected cohort study (EU-TRAIN).

Non-invasive biomarkers are promising tools for improving kidney allograft rejection monitoring, but their clinical adoption requires more evidence in specifically designed studies. To address this unmet need, we designed the EU-TRAIN study, a large prospective multicentric unselected cohort funded by the European Commission. Here, we included consecutive adult patients who received a kidney allograft in nine European transplant centers between November 2018 and June 2020.

Carbon-13 isotopomics of triacylglycerol (TAG) fatty acids or free fatty acids in biological matrices holds considerable potential in food authentication, forensic investigations, metabolic studies, and medical research. However, challenges arise in the isotopic analysis of short- and medium-chain (C4 to C10) fatty acid methyl esters (SMCFAMEs) through gas chromatography-combustion-isotope ratio mass spectrometry (GC-C-IRMS). The high volatility of these esters results in losses during their preparation, leading to isotopic fractionation.

Purpose: For the first time in France, a randomised controlled trial was conducted to evaluate the impact of a nurse facilitator on family psychological symptoms. We sought to explore the implementation of the intervention, how it was experienced by clinicians, as well as the barriers and facilitators to implementing the change.

Methods: We conducted qualitative semi-structured interviews with intensive care unit (ICU) clinicians and facilitators involved in the trial.

Indications and added value of videourodynamics in men with spinal cord injury.

Purpose: The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the indications and additional information provided by videourodynamic study (VUDS) over urodynamic studies (UDS) in men with spinal cord injury (SCI) and neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD). The secondary aim was to determine the added value of VUDS and its impact on bladder management.
