Association of Hypotension During Thrombectomy and Outcomes Differs With the Posterior Communicating Artery Patency.

Background And Purpose: Hypotension during endovascular therapy for acute ischemic stroke is associated with worse functional outcomes (FO). Given its important role in intracranial hemodynamics, we investigated whether hypotension during endovascular therapy had the same effect on FO according to the posterior communicating artery (PComA) patency.

Methods: We performed a post hoc analysis of the ASTER trial (Contact Aspiration Versus Stent Retriever for Successful Revascularization).

Associations between the severity of medical and surgical complications and perception of surgeon empathy in esophageal and gastric cancer patients.

Objective: To assess the impact of global physician empathy and its three subdimensions (establishing rapport, emotional and cognitive processes) on the severity of postoperative complications in a sample of cancer patients.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data on 256 patients with esogastric cancer from the French national FREGAT database. Empathy and its subdimensions were assessed using the patient-reported CARE scale and the severity of medical and surgical complications was reported with the Clavien-Dindo classification system.

A post hoc analysis of the Diabeloop WP7 multicentre, randomized controlled trial was performed to investigate the efficacy of the Diabeloop Generation-1 (DBLG1) closed-loop system in controlling the hypoglycaemia induced by physical activity (PA) in real-life conditions. Glycaemic outcomes were compared between days with and without PA in 56 patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D) using DBLG1 for 12 weeks. After the patient announces a PA, DBLG1 reduces insulin delivery and, if necessary, calculates the amount of preventive carbohydrates (CHO).

Carotid versus femoral access for transcatheter aortic valve replacement: comparable results in the current era.

Objectives: The carotid approach for transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has been shown to be feasible and safe. The goal of this study was to compare the 30-day outcomes of trans-carotid (TC) and transfemoral (TF) TAVR.

Methods: This retrospective study enrolled 500 consecutive patients treated by TC-TAVR (n = 100) or TF-TAVR (n = 400) with percutaneous closure between January 2018 and January 2020 at the Nantes University Hospital.

Celsior crystalloid cardioplegia versus standard hyperkalemic normothermic blood cardioplegia: Analysis of myocardial protection in elective mitral valve repair.

Introduction: With the increase and refinement of video assisted mitral valve surgery, cristalloïd cardioplegia started regaining popularity. The aim of our study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Celsior, a crystalloid cardioplegic solution, on myocardial protection in elective surgical mitral valve repair in comparison to blood based hyperkalemic cardioplegia.

Methods: In this observational retrospective study, all consecutive elective isolated surgical mitral valve repair where Celsior or normothermic hyperkalemic blood cardioplegia were used were included.

Efficacy of assisted reproductive technology after ovarian tissue transplantation in a cohort of 11 patients with or without associated infertility factors.

Purpose: IVF treatment in women with grafted frozen-thawed ovarian tissue is associated with poor reproductive outcomes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of ovarian tissue transplantation (OTT) followed by assisted reproductive technology (ART) in women with or without associated infertility factors.

Methods: This is a prospective cohort study with retrospective data collection including eleven women, four of whom having an infertility factor (IF), who had undergone OTT in one university center between 2005 and 2017, followed by ART in six in vitro fertilization (IVF) centers.

Long term outcome of MPI-CDG patients on D-mannose therapy.

Mannose phosphate isomerase MPI-CDG (formerly CDG-1b) is a potentially fatal inherited metabolic disease which is readily treatable with oral D-mannose. We retrospectively reviewed long-term outcomes of patients with MPI-CDG, all but one of whom were treated with D-mannose. Clinical, biological, and histological data were reviewed at diagnosis and on D-mannose treatment.

A heart transplant after total artificial heart support: initial and long-term results.

Objectives: At our centre, the SynCardia temporary Total Artificial Heart (TAH-t) (SynCardia Systems, LLC, Tucson, AZ, USA) is used to provide long-term support for patients with biventricular failure as a bridge to a transplant. However, a heart transplant (HT) after such support remains challenging. The aim of this retrospective study was to assess the immediate and long-term results following an HT in the cohort of patients who had a TAH-t implant.

The DIABEO system (DS) is a telemedicine solution that combines a mobile app for patients with a web portal for health care providers. DS allows real-time monitoring of basal-bolus insulin therapy as well as therapeutic decision-making, integrating both basal and bolus dose calculation. Real-life studies have shown a very low rate of use of mobile health applications by patients.

Intra-CSF AAV9 and AAVrh10 Administration in Nonhuman Primates: Promising Routes and Vectors for Which Neurological Diseases?

The identification of the most efficient method for whole central nervous system targeting that is translatable to humans and the safest route of adeno-associated virus (AAV) administration is a major concern for future applications in clinics. Additionally, as many AAV serotypes were identified for gene introduction into the brain and the spinal cord, another key to human gene-therapy success is to determine the most efficient serotype. In this study, we compared lumbar intrathecal administration through catheter implantation and intracerebroventricular administration in the cynomolgus macaque.

The Osteosarcoma Microenvironment: A Complex But Targetable Ecosystem.

Osteosarcomas are the most frequent primary bone sarcomas, affecting mainly children, adolescents, and young adults, and with a second peak of incidence in elderly individuals. The current therapeutic management, a combined regimen of poly-chemotherapy and surgery, still remains largely insufficient, as patient survival has not improved in recent decades. Osteosarcomas are very heterogeneous tumors, both at the intra- and inter-tumor level, with no identified driver mutation.

Health Status of French Young Patients with Inborn Errors of Metabolism with Lifelong Restricted Diet.

Objective: To describe the health status of young patients affected by inborn errors of metabolism that require adherence to a restricted diet (IEMRDs) and to describe and compare their self- and proxy (parent)-reported quality of life (QoL) with reference values.

Study Design: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2015-2017 in patients affected by IEMRDs (except phenylketonuria) younger than 18 years. Data collection was based on medical records, clinical examinations, parents' and children's interviews, and self-reported questionnaires.

Background: Significant progress was recently observed in the treatment of metastatic melanoma (MM). With >50% of patients now reaching a second line of treatment and a significant improvement in the survival rate, an assessment of quality of life (QoL) during the whole course of the disease becomes necessary. The objective of this study was to describe the QoL of patients with MM in France, from their diagnosis of advanced disease to their death, in real life.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of delayed RE versus systematic RE after UE on overall survival (OS), metastatic relapse-free survival (MRFS), local relapse-free survival (LRFS), and rate of amputation.

Background And Purpose: To determine the precise incidence of lesions at sites of high Aquaporin-4 expression (hAQP4) and their possible association with known neuromyelitis optica spectrum disease (NMOSD) lesions patterns.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective analysis of brain and, when available, spinal cord MRI scans of 54 NMOSD patients recruited among the French NMOSD cohort was performed. Brain lesions were annotated as MS-like, non-specific, or evocative of NMOSD.

Update of survival and cost of metastatic melanoma with new drugs: Estimations from the MelBase cohort.

Purpose: Since 2011, significant progress was observed in metastatic melanoma (MM), with the commercialisation of seven immunotherapies or targeted therapies, which showed significant improvement in survival. In France, in 2004, the cost of MM was estimated at €1634 per patient; this cost has not been re-estimated since. This study provided an update on survival and cost in real-life clinical practice.

TCR Analyses of Two Vast and Shared Melanoma Antigen-Specific T Cell Repertoires: Common and Specific Features.

Among Immunotherapeutic approaches for cancer treatment, the adoptive transfer of antigen specific T cells is still a relevant approach, that could have higher efficacy when further combined with immune check-point blockade. A high number of adoptive transfer trials have been performed in metastatic melanoma, due to its high immunogenic potential, either with polyclonal TIL or antigen-specific polyclonal populations. In this setting, the extensive characterization of T cell functions and receptor diversity of infused polyclonal T cells is required, notably for monitoring purposes.

Inaugural tumor-like multiple sclerosis: clinical presentation and medium-term outcome in 87 patients.

Background: Tumefactive demyelinating lesions of the central nervous system can be the initial presentation in various pathological entities [multiple sclerosis (the most common), Balo's concentric sclerosis, Schilder's disease and acute disseminated encephalomyelitis] with overlapping clinical presentation.
