Background: Pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) is the standard surgery to treat tumors and other conditions affecting the head of the pancreas. PD involves the division of the gastroduodenal artery (GDA) and its branches, to allow for complete dissection of lymph nodes. However, PD in patients with prior esophageal resection presents challenges due to altered anatomy and risks compromising gastric tube vascularization.

Background: The practice of dental surgery requires a few different skills, including mental rotation of an object, precision of movement with good hand-eye coordination, and speed of technical movement. Learning these different skills begins during the preclinical phase of dental student training. Moreover, playing a musical instrument or video game seems to promote the early development of these skills.

Dental anomalies in craniofacial microsomia and condylo-mandibular dysplasia: A retrospective study of 103 patients.

Introduction: Craniofacial microsomia (CFM) and camel-hump condylo-mandibular dysplasia (CMD) are developmental disorders affecting the mandible that share common clinical features. This study aimed to investigate and compare the dental anomalies (DA) between the two entities for differential diagnosis and to propose appropriate treatment.

Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study was based on panoramic radiographs of patients diagnosed with CFM or CMD.

Background: Customized cutting guides are technical aids that make primary pelvic bone tumor resection safer and more reliable. Although the effectiveness of such devices appears to be widely accepted, their conception and design remain varied. Two main designs have been reported: the heavier block-type customized cutting guides and the lighter patch-type customized cutting guides.

A comprehensive review of the vertebral artery anatomy.

Background: The vertebral arteries (VA) play a critical role by supplying nearly one-third of the brain's blood flow, predominantly contributing to the posterior circulation. These arteries may need to be exposed in a various cranial and cervical procedures and offers access to investigate or treat vascular lesions by endovascular means related to the posterior circulation. Given its complex anatomy, which is subject to numerous variations, and its role in supplying vital brain regions, a thorough understanding of the VA's anatomy is paramount for any related procedure.

Acinar dysplasia (AcDys) is one of the three main diffuse developmental disorders of the lung. The transcription factor NK2 homeobox 1 (NKX2.1) partly controls the synthesis of surfactant proteins by type 2 alveolar epithelial cells (AEC2), and germline mutations are known to be associated with brain-lung thyroid syndrome.

Management and outcomes of hemorrhage after distal pancreatectomy: a multicenter study at high volume centers.

Background: Data on clinically relevant post-pancreatectomy hemorrhage (CR-PPH) are derived from series mostly focused on pancreatoduodenectomy, and data after distal pancreatectomy (DP) are scarce.

Methods: All non-extended DP performed from 2014 to 2018 were included. CR-PPH encompassed grade B and C PPH.

Mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy: Is smaller better for kidney stones in patients with neurogenic bladder?

Introduction: Patients with neurologic bladder are at an increased risk for urolithiasis, and currently, data on mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy in this population are limited. Our objective was to compare mini (15F)-percutaneous nephrolithotomy, standard (24F)-PCNL and flexible ureteroscopy in terms of efficacy and safety in treatment of kidney stones in patients with neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD).

Methods: We conducted a retrospective monocentric study in our neuro-urological referral centre.

Jansen-de Vries syndrome: Expansion of the PPM1D clinical and phenotypic spectrum in 34 families.

Jansen-de Vries syndrome (JdVS) is a neurodevelopmental condition attributed to pathogenic variants in Exons 5 and 6 of PPM1D. As the full phenotypic spectrum and natural history remain to be defined, we describe a large cohort of children and adults with JdVS. This is a retrospective cohort study of 37 individuals from 34 families with disease-causing variants in PPM1D leading to JdVS.

Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of Sequential Treatment Strategies for Advanced Melanoma in Real Life in France.

Nine drugs have been marketed for 10 years for the treatment of advanced melanoma (AM). With half of patients reaching a second line, the optimal sequence of treatments remains unclear. To inform policy-makers about their efficiency, we performed a cost-effectiveness analysis of sequential strategies in clinical practice in France, for BRAF-mutated and wild-type patients.

Evaluation of left ventricular systolic function in children with sickle cell anemia: contribution of 2D strain.

Background: Children with sickle cell anemia (SCA) are at an increased risk of cardiovascular complications. The aim of this study was to assess the role of speckle tracking echocardiography in detecting subclinical myocardial damage in children with SCA.

Methods: A cross-sectional case-control study was conducted at the echocardiography laboratory of the military hospital of Tunis between July and December 2018.

Individual and Family Determinants for Quality of Life in Parents of Children with Inborn Errors of Metabolism Requiring a Restricted Diet: A Multilevel Analysis Approach.

Objective: The objective of this study was to compare the quality of life (QoL) for parents of children with inborn errors of metabolism (IEMs) requiring a restricted diet with French population norms and investigate parental QoL determinants.

Study Design: This cross-sectional study included mothers and/or fathers of children < 18 years of age affected by IEMs requiring a restricted diet (except phenylketonuria) from January 2015 to December 2017. Parents' QoL was assessed using the World Health Organization Quality of Life BREF questionnaire and compared with age- and sex-matched reference values from the French general population.

AORTLANTIC: French registry of aortic valve-sparing root replacement, preliminary multicentre results from western France.

Objectives: Aortic root aneurysms often affect younger patients in whom valve-sparing surgery is challenging. Among current techniques, aortic valve-sparing root replacement described by Tirone David has shown encouraging results. The AORTLANTIC registry was instituted for a multicentre long-term evaluation of this procedure.

Digital chain for pelvic tumor resection with 3D-printed surgical cutting guides.

Surgical cutting guides are 3D-printed customized tools that help surgeons during complex surgeries. However, there does not seem to be any set methodology for designing these patient-specific instruments. Recent publications using pelvic surgical guides showed various designs with no clearly classified or standardized features.

RFC1 nonsense and frameshift variants cause CANVAS: clues for an unsolved pathophysiology.

Cerebellar ataxia, neuropathy and vestibular areflexia syndrome (CANVAS) is an inherited late-onset neurological disease caused by bi-allelic AAGGG pentanucleotide expansions within intron 2 of RFC1. Despite extensive studies, the pathophysiological mechanism of these intronic expansions remains elusive. We screened by clinical exome sequencing two unrelated patients presenting with late-onset ataxia.

Cytokines are crucial molecules for maintaining the proper functioning of the immune system. Nevertheless, a dysregulation of cytokine expression could be involved in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases. Interleukin (IL)-15 is a key factor for natural killer cells (NK) and CD8 T cells homeostasis, necessary to fight cancer and infections but could also be considered as a pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in autoimmune inflammatory disease, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, along with tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), IL-6, and IL-1β.

Objective: To investigate the determinants of quality of life (QoL) in children with inborn errors of metabolism with restricted diet (IEMRDs) using a single theory-based multidimensional model.

Study Design: In this multicenter cross-sectional study, data from children aged 8-17 years with IEMRDs (except phenylketonuria) and their parents were collected from January 2015 to December 2017. Measurements included a child's self-reported QoL, self-rated behavioral problems and anxiety, and parental anxiety.
