Specific miRNAs are implicated in the development of preeclampsia (PE). miR-455-5p is present at low levels in PE but its role is not known.

High prevalence of low bone mineral density in middle-aged adults in Shanghai: a cross-sectional study.

Purpose: To assess bone mineral density (BMD) in middle-aged individuals in Shanghai, in order to improve awareness of osteopenia and osteoporosis screening.

Methods: The clinical data of 1107 permanent residents of Shanghai aged 40-60 years were collected using a random cluster sampling method. Osteoporosis questionnaire survey and BMD test were conducted.

Studies suggest that the triglyceride-glucose index (TyG) is a novel and comprehensive marker of metabolic health. While most research indicates that increased physical activity (PA) is linked to improved metabolic health, some studies argue that the previous markers may not fully capture this relationship. This study uses TyG as a marker of metabolic health to examine the association between PA and TyG.

[Observation of analgesic efficacy of liposomal bupivacaine for local infiltration anesthesia in unicompartmental knee arthroplasty: a prospective randomized controlled study].

Objective: A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted to investigate the early postoperative analgesic effectiveness of using liposomal bupivacaine (LB) for local infiltration anesthesia (LIA) in unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA).

Methods: Between January 2024 and July 2024, a total of 80 patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) who met the selection criteria were enrolled in the study. Patients were randomly assigned to either the LB group or the "cocktail" group in a 1∶1 ratio using a random number table, with 40 patients in each group.

A nomogram to predict the risk of insulin resistance in Chinese women with polycystic ovary syndrome.

Background: Insulin resistance (IR) is considered a major driver of the pathophysiology of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), mediating the progression of hyperandrogenism and metabolic and reproductive dysfunction in patients with PCOS. Early detection of the risk of concurrent IR is essential for women with PCOS. To address this need, this study developed a predictive nomogram for assessing the risk of IR in women with PCOS, aiming to provide a tool for risk stratification and assist in clinical decision-making.

Vitamin D supplementation can improve the 28-day mortality rate in patients with sepsis-associated acute kidney injury.

Purpose: Vitamin D levels are generally lower in septic patients and are associated with poor prognosis. Observational studies suggest improved renal recovery in acute kidney injury (AKI) patients with increased vitamin D levels. Still, large RCTs did not show significant clinical benefits, possibly due to the limited number of sepsis or AKI patients included.

Background: Our previous studies have found that Wumei Pills can regulate the intestinal flora to inhibit chemotherapy-induced intestinal mucositis (CIM). However, there is still insufficient evidence to confirm that intestinal flora is the main link in the regulation of CIM by Wumei Pills, and its downstream mechanism is still unclear.

Method: We first obtained the signal pathway of the intervention of Wumei Pill on CIM through network pharmacological analysis and then transplanted the bacterial solution into CIM mice, combined with Western Blot, HE, ELISA and other biological technology-related proteins and inflammatory factors.

[Correlation and predictive value analysis of iliac artery calcification score and restenosis of lower extremity arteries after drug-coated balloon combined with stent implantation in patients with lower extremity atherosclerotic occlusive disease].

To analyze the correlation between iliac artery calcification score and restenosis of lower extremity arteries in patients with lower extremity atherosclerotic occlusive disease (LEASO) who underwent drug-coated balloon (DCB) combined with stenting, and to assess the predictive value. A total of 105 patients with LEASO at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, Nanjing University Medicine School, from January 2018 to June 2023 were retrospectively included, and the patients were divided into 2 groups according to whether restenosis of the original lower limb arteries had occurred during follow-up after DCB combined stent implantation: the restenosis group (=64) and the patency group (=41). The clinical information of the study subjects was collected through the electronic case system, and all patients underwent CTA examination of both lower limb arteries before the operation, and the calcification scores of common iliac arteries and external iliac arteries of patients' bilateral and stenotic sides were calculated according to the results of the CTA examination.

UM-Net: Rethinking ICGNet for polyp segmentation with uncertainty modeling.

Automatic segmentation of polyps from colonoscopy images plays a critical role in the early diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer. Nevertheless, some bottlenecks still exist. In our previous work, we mainly focused on polyps with intra-class inconsistency and low contrast, using ICGNet to solve them.

Objective: To analyze the clinical efficacy of ultrasonic bone scalpel (UBS)-assisted unilateral biportal endoscopic lamina osteotomy replantation (ULOR) for treating lumbar infectious spondylitis (LIS).

Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients with LIS who had therapy with UBS-assisted ULOR at our hospital between January 2020 and May 2023. A total of 17 instances matched the inclusion criteria, consisting of 7 females and 10 males.

The role and mechanism of protein post‑translational modification in vascular calcification (Review).

Vascular calcification is closely associated with morbidity and mortality in patients with chronic kidney disease, atherosclerosis and diabetes. In the past few decades, vascular calcification has been studied extensively and the findings have shown that the mechanism of vascular calcification is not merely a consequence of a high-phosphorus and high-calcium environment but also an active process characterized by abnormal calcium phosphate deposition on blood vessel walls that involves various molecular mechanisms. Recent advances in bioinformatics approaches have led to increasing recognition that aberrant post-translational modifications (PTMs) play important roles in vascular calcification.
