Background: Triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index was regarded as a cost-efficient and reliable clinical surrogate marker for insulin resistance (IR), which was significantly correlated with cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, the TyG index and incident CVD in non-diabetic hypertension patients remains uncertain. The aim of study was to explore the impact of TyG index level and variability on risk of CVD among non-diabetic hypertension patients.

Internal instability of embankment soils under seepage can occur in two distinct ways: suffusion and suffosion. Suffusion involves the removal of fine particles from the matrix without causing significant disturbance to the soil skeleton, while suffosion is characterized by the movement of fine particles accompanied by skeleton collapse or deformation. In terms of dam safety, suffosion poses a greater threat than suffusion.

UVB irradiation induces diverse modalities of regulatory cell death in keratinocytes. Recently, the pattern of coexistence of pyroptosis, apoptosis, and necroptosis has been termed PANoptosis; however, whether PANoptosis occurs in keratinocytes in UVB-induced skin injury remains unclear. We observed that the key molecules of GSDMD-mediated pyroptosis, apoptosis, and necroptosis, which are N-terminal GSDMD, cleaved caspase-3/PARP, and phosphorylated MLKL, respectively, were elevated in keratinocytes of UVB-challenged mice and human skin tissue.

Synergistic therapy combining photothermal therapy (PTT) and chemodynamic therapy (CDT) has proven to be a highly effective strategy for cancer treatment. However, PTT heavily relies on the accumulation of therapeutic agents at the tumor site. The peroxidase (POD) activity of common catalysts can be rapidly exhausted during the accumulation process, prior to laser intervention, thereby diminishing the synergistic enhancement effect of the combined therapy.

Objective: High D-dimer levels may increase the likelihood of unfavorable clinical outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke. However, the impacts of serum D-dimer levels on outcomes of reperfusion treatment in patients with acute ischemic stroke have not been evaluated. This study aims to assess a possible relationship between serum D-dimer and functional outcomes in stroke patients with endovascular treatment (EVT).

Immune cells are sensitive to the perception of mechanical stimuli in the tumor microenvironment. Changes in biophysical cues within tumor tissue can alter the force-sensing mechanisms experienced by cells. Mechanical stimuli within the extracellular matrix are transformed into biochemical signals through mechanotransduction.

Recently, thallium (Tl) contamination at trace levels has gained worldwide attention, particularly in the remote ore-smelting regions of China. To effectively eliminate the residual target Tl(I) ions, one of the best strategies is to develop novel adsorbents with high selectivity. In this study, we selected silicate mineral waste (SMW) and chitosan (CTS) to synthesize a low-cost composite adsorbent for the removal of trace Tl(I).

G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) can transmit signals via G protein-dependent or independent pathways due to the conformational changes of receptors and ligands, which is called biased signaling. This concept posits that ligands can selectively activate a specific signaling pathway after receptor activation, facilitating downstream signaling along a preferred pathway. Biased agonism enables the development of ligands that prioritize therapeutic signaling pathways while mitigating on-target undesired effects.

Ammonia (NH) is crucial in fine particulate matter (PM) formation, but past estimations on industrial NH emissions remain highly uncertain. In this study, the flow of NH within air pollution control devices (APCDs) were investigated basing on material flow analysis with in-situ measurements of NH concentrations at the inlets and outlets of each APCD. Then, by combing emission factors updated with recent in-situ measurements and provincial-level activity data from statistical yearbooks and associated reports, NH emissions from various industrial sources, as well as their spatial distribution across China in 2020, were evaluated.

Since the Industrial Revolution, anthropogenic activities have substantially increased the input of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) into river watersheds, exacerbated by uncertainties stemming from climate change. This study provided a detailed analysis of N and P inputs within the Dawen River Watershed in China from 2000 to 2021. The Net Anthropogenic Nitrogen Input (NANI) and Net Anthropogenic Phosphorus Input (NAPI) methods were used in study, which aimed to investigate how they respond to various climate change factors.

Accurate decoding of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals in the shortest possible time is essential for the realization of a high-performance brain-computer interface (BCI) system based on the steady-state visual evoked potential (SSVEP). However, the degradation of decoding performance of short-length EEG signals is often unavoidable due to the reduced information, which hinders the development of BCI systems in real-world applications. In this paper, we propose a relaxed matching knowledge distillation (RMKD) method to transfer both feature-level and logit-level knowledge in a relaxed manner to improve the decoding performance of short-length EEG signals.

Multimorbidity, therapeutic complexity, and polypharmacy, which greatly increases the risk of drug-drug interactions (DDIs) and adverse medical outcomes, have become important and growing challenges in clinical practice. Statins are frequently prescribed to manage post-transplant dyslipidemia and reduce overall cardiovascular risk in solid organ transplant recipients. This study aimed to determine whether rosuvastatin has significant DDIs with tacrolimus (the first-line immunosuppressant) and to evaluate the risk of hepatotoxicity associated with concomitant therapy.

The cytosolic delivery of therapeutic proteins represents a promising strategy for addressing diseases caused by protein dysfunction. Despite significant advances, efficient delivery remains challenging due to barriers such as cell membrane impermeability, endosomal sequestration, and protein instability. This review summarizes recent progress in protein delivery systems, including physical, chemical, and biological approaches, with a particular focus on strategies that enhance endosomal escape and targeting specificity.

A modular synthesis method for 1,4-diketones has been developed. Utilizing inexpensive carboxylic acid esters as carbonyl sources and tetraborylethane () as a nucleophilic reagent, a one-pot strategy for constructing two C-C bonds was established. Notably, this reaction proceeds without the involvement of transition metals and exhibits excellent functional group compatibility.

Piezoelectric polymer textiles offer distinct advantages in the fabrication of wearable nanogenerators (NGs). One effective strategy to enhance the output capacity of NGs is to modulate the piezoelectric performance of the textiles. This paper focuses on further improving the piezoelectric properties of nylon-11,11 textiles through post-drawing and annealing treatments.

Psoriasis, a chronic inflammatory dermatosis, represents a significant clinical challenge due to its complex pathogenesis and the limitations of existing therapeutic strategies. Current psoriasis diagnoses are primarily clinician-dependent, with instrumental diagnostics serving as adjuncts. Ongoing research is progressively deciphering its molecular underpinnings; the future of psoriasis diagnostics may involve genetic and immunological profiling to pinpoint biomarkers, enabling more accurate and timely interventions.
