Podocyte apoptosis is a typical early feature of diabetic nephropathy (DN), with loss of nephrin integrity contributing to increased proteinuria in patients with DN. Emerging evidence shows that microRNAs (miRNAs) play vital roles in the pathogenesis of DN. Thus, we aimed to further elucidate the role of miRNAs in podocyte apoptosis in DN.

MicroRNAs are often deregulated in most cancer types and have important functions in carcinogenesis and cancer progression. Here, we studied the function of microRNA-34 (miR-34a) in osteosarcoma MG63 and U-2OS cells by expressed with pre-miR-34a, anti-miR-34a and corresponding negative controls, respectively. Cells proliferation, cell cycle and apoptosis was measured by MTT and flow cytometry assay.

Cervical cancer is one of the most common gynecological malignancies in women worldwide. The long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) LINC00473 is increased in some human cancer tissues and it plays important roles in tumorigenesis. However, neither the expression pattern nor the biological functions of LINC00473 have been elucidated in cervical cancer so far.

The aim of the research was to determine the functional effects and molecular mechanisms of GABA receptor on ischemia reperfusion-induced gastric injury in rats. The lateral hypothalamus area GABA receptor attenuated the ischemia reperfusion-induced gastric injury by up-regulating the production of GABA, GABAR, and down-regulating GABAR in the brain. This work would provide a new therapeutic strategy for acute gastric injury.

Studies have shown that the abnormal expression of Fms related tyrosine kinase 1 (Flt1) is associated with multiple malignancies, yet its role in glioblastoma pathology remains to be elucidated. In this study, we investigated the role of Flt1 in regulating proliferation, migration and invasion of glioblastoma cells by establishing glioblastoma cell strains with constitutively silenced or elevated Flt1 expression. We demonstrate that ectopic expression of Flt1 promotes glioblastoma cells migration, invasion through cell scratching and Transwell assays.

Acute postoperative pain following radical mastectomy is a high risk for prolonged convalescence and potential persistent pain in patients with breast cancer. The present study was designed to observe the effect of intraoperative use of dexmedetomidine on acute postoperative pain following radical mastectomy under general anesthesia. Forty-five patients were enrolled into the study and divided into two groups that were maintained with propofol/remifentanil/Ringer's solution or propofol/remifentanil/Dexmedetomidine followed by morphine-based patient-controlled analgesia.

Background: Previous studies have investigated the associations between interleukin-10 (IL-10) gene polymorphisms (-592C/A, -819C/T and -1082G/A) and risk of coronary artery disease (CAD). However, the results were inconsistent. The aim of this study was to clarify the relationship between IL-10 polymorphisms and CAD risk by a meta-analysis approach.
