[Analysis of Factors Influencing Overall Survival and Prognosis of AML Patients Over 50 Years Old].

Objective: To explore the overall survival and prognostic factors of patients over 50 years old with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

Methods: The clinical data of 222 AML patients aged over 50 years in our hospital from January 2016 and June 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. Kaplan-Meier method was used to evaluate the overall survival (OS) rate, and Cox regression model to evaluate the prognostic factors.

Elabela mitigates the early stage of inflammation in sepsis by inhibiting pyroptosis.

Objectives: This study aims to investigate the potential therapeutic role of Elabela (ELA) in mitigating the sepsis-induced inflammatory storm, a phenomenon commonly associated with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) and increased mortality. Our findings show the pathogenesis of sepsis, identifying ELA as a promising therapeutic target.

Circular RNA, also called circRNA, is a type of widespread RNA that is mainly derived from the spliceosome, from which DNA is transcribed into messenger RNA (mRNA). CircRNAs are characterized by the formation of a covalently closed continuous loop, and they play a variety of gene regulatory roles. CircRNAs were initially thought to represent splicing errors, but an increasing amount of evidence indicates that they may play significant roles in a variety of human diseases, including cancers, cardiovascular disease, neurological disorders, and pre-eclampsia.

Background: Pomegranate ellagic polyphenols (PEP) has been used as a good medicine in many cultures throughout history. However, the mechanism of PEP regulated insulin resistance on gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) rats is unclear. The main purpose of the present study was to explore the efficacy and mechanisms of PEP regulated in GDM rats.

Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 4 (CCL4) and vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A) are involved in the progression and metastasis of some tumors, including ovarian cancer, colon cancer and prostate cancer. However, the roles of CCL4 and VEGF-A in human endometrial cancer (EC) are still unclear. Here, we demonstrated that the production of CCL4 and VEGF-A was significantly higher in EC tissues than in normal tissues, and their expression profiles were associated with the clinical stage of EC.

Sox2 overlapping transcript (Sox2ot) serves as an unfavorable prognostic factor in lung cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma, but the clinical significance and biological function of Sox2ot in gastric cancer is still unknown. The objective of our research is to explore the significance of Sox2ot in gastric cancer. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction was performed to determine Sox2ot in gastric cancer tissues and cell lines.

Objective: To compare the platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in normal people, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) patients and prostate cancer (PCA) patients, and to explore the prognostic role of PLR in PCA.

Methods: 155 normal people, 168 BPH patients and 103 PCA patients were enrolled. PCA patients were divided into PLR low value group (PLR<150) and PLR high value group (PLR≥150), and the difference of patients' clinical characteristics between high value group and low value group was comparative studied.

Comparison of early-term effects between totally laparoscopic distal gastrectomy with delta-shaped anastomosis and conventional laparoscopic-assisted distal gastrectomy: a retrospective study.

Objective: To compare early-term effects of totally laparoscopic distal gastrectomy with delta-shaped anastomosis (D-STLDG) with conventional laparoscopic-assisted distal gastrectomy (LADG).

Methods: Clinical data of 24 patients who received D-STLDG from April 2013 to April 2014, and 45 patients who received LADG from March 2010 to December 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. The operative time, intra-operative blood loss, post-operative recovery time of intestinal function, post-operative pain, the length of post-operative hospital stay and the incidence of post-operative complications (infection, obstruction and delayed gastric emptying) were compared between the two groups.

Fibrous hamartoma of infancy: a clinical pathological analysis of seventeen cases.

To discuss the clinical and pathological features, differential diagnosis and prognosis of fibrous hamartoma of infancy (FHI), seventeen FHI specimens were analyzed with H&E staining and strepavidin peroxidase (SP) immunohistochemistry to detect distinguishing tissue markers. The long-term outcomes of select cases were also obtained. Among the 17 patients (13 males, 4 females, average age 16 months), FHI manifested as a subcutaneous painless mass, primarily on the back of the neck, the upper arms and buttocks.

Calcitriol plays a protective role in diabetic nephropathy through anti-inflammatory effects.

Aims: To ascertain the protective role of calcitriol in the development of diabetic nephropathy and unravel the mechanism of the protective effects.

Methods: In this prospective study, 69 patients were screened for type 1 diabetes, and 31 patients with type 1 diabetes were enrolled. Among these 31 patients, 24 patients had insufficient or deficient levels of serum vitamin D and 21 patients complied with calcitriol and were followed up.
