Tetrazolium iridium complexes as potential antibacterial agents.

In this work, three iridium(iii) tetrazolato complexes have been used in antibacterial, biofilm removal and for other bioactivities for the first time. Notably, these iridium(iii) tetrazolato complexes with high antibacterial, especially, Ir-CFTAZ showed the best antimicrobial activity and the most effective hemolytic performance, which may pave the way to explore the value of the complexes for clinical applications in the future.

Surgical treatment of mammalian bites----experience in the management of facial wounds by dog and cat bite in China.

Mammalian bites to the face challenges not only related to wound healing but also to aesthetic outcomes. This study aims to summarize 7 years of experience in treating mammalian bite wounds and propose a surgical approach for managing these wounds. From July 2016 to August 2023, 185 cases were treated and retrospectively evaluated.

Prevalence and Contributors of Postpartum Fatigue in Chinese Primiparous Women: A Cross-Sectional Study.

The prevalence of postpartum fatigue among primipara is high in China, which seriously affects women's subsequent physical and mental recovery. In order to deeply understand this phenomenon, domestic scholars began to conduct research on postpartum fatigue from the aspects of assessment tools and intervention measures. This study aims to investigate postpartum fatigue in primiparous women and its association with family functioning and social support, providing valuable insights for improving the condition in this population.

Effect of a mobile APP-based self-care diary combined with nursing for the management of post-heart transplantation diabetes.

Objectives: To retrospectively investigate the effect of a mobile app-based self-care diary, a nursing management method, on post-heart transplantation diabetes.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the general data of 87 patients who underwent heart transplantation in the Cardiac and Thoracic Vascular Surgery Department of Nanjing First Hospital between January 2018 and December 2023. Based on the nursing method, the patients were divided into a control group that received routine nursing measures (n=47 cases) and an observation group that implemented a mobile APP-based self-care diary combined with nursing (n=40 cases).

Increased Plasma Pyruvate Kinase M2 (PK-M2) in Heart Failure: A Novel Biomarker Related to Cardiac Function and its Clinical Implications.

Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether circulating pyruvate kinase M2 (PK-M2) levels are elevated in the peripheral blood and to assess their association with diagnosis and prognosis in patients with heart failure (HF).

Methods And Results: We conducted a prospective investigation involving 222 patients with HF and 103 control subjects, measuring PK-M2 concentrations using ELISA. The primary outcome, assessed over a median follow-up of 2 years (interquartile range: 776 to 926 days), was the time to the first occurrence of either rehospitalization for worsening HF or cardiovascular death.

Zinc nanoparticles from oral supplements accumulate in renal tumours and stimulate antitumour immune responses.

A successful therapeutic outcome in the treatment of solid tumours requires efficient intratumoural drug accumulation and retention. Here we demonstrate that zinc gluconate in oral supplements assembles with plasma proteins to form ZnO nanoparticles that selectively accumulate into papillary Caki-2 renal tumours and promote the recruitment of dendritic cells and cytotoxic CD8 T cells to tumour tissues. Renal tumour targeting is mediated by the preferential binding of zinc ions to metallothionein-1X proteins, which are constitutively overexpressed in Caki-2 renal tumour cells.

Association of Dietary Intake of Vitamin A With Adolescent Hypertension: A Cross-Sectional Study Based on NHANES 1999-2018.

We aimed to investigate the association between dietary intake of vitamin A and risk of hypertension during adolescence. We interrogated the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database, from which individual-level data on dietary intake of vitamin A were garnered from 13,909 adolescents (aged 10-19 years) participating in the 1999-2018 study cycle. After dividing vitamin A intake into four quartiles, we leveraged weighted multivariate logistic regression to investigate the association of vitamin A intake with hypertension by each quartile, with the restricted cubic spline (RCS) curve plotted to assess the nonlinearity of association.

Respiratory diseases pose a significant global health burden, with challenges in early and accurate diagnosis due to overlapping clinical symptoms, which often leads to misdiagnosis or delayed treatment. To address this issue, we developed , an artificial intelligence (AI)-based diagnostic system that utilizes natural language processing (NLP) to extract key clinical features from electronic health records (EHRs) for the accurate classification of respiratory diseases. This study employed a large cohort of 31,267 EHRs from multiple centers for model training and internal testing.

Chinese guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis: 2024 update.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease with destructive arthritis as its main clinical manifestation, which is a major cause of disability. It is very important to formulate and update a guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of RA that adhere to international guideline development standards and can be applied to clinical practice in China. Predictive accuracy of comorbidity index models in assessing mortality risk among hemodialysis patients: A comprehensive single-center observational cohort study.

Objectives: Comorbidity prediction models have been demonstrated to offer more comprehensive and accurate predictions of death risk compared to single indices. However, their application in China has been limited, particularly among maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients. FHIT is a fragile site tumor suppressor that is primarily inactivated upon tobacco smoking. FHIT loss is frequently observed in lung cancer, making it an important biomarker for the development of targeted therapy for lung cancer. Here, we report that inhibitors of glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta (GSK3β) and the homologous recombination DNA repair (HRR) pathway are synthetic lethal with FHIT loss in lung cancer.

Impaired network organization in mild age-related hearing loss.

Age-related hearing loss (ARHL) is considered one of the most common neurodegenerative disorders in the elderly; however, how it contributes to cognitive decline is poorly understood. With resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging from 66 individuals with ARHL and 54 healthy controls, group spatial independent component analyses, sliding window analyses, graph-theory methods, multilayer networks, and correlation analyses were used to identify ARHL-induced disturbances in static and dynamic functional network connectivity (sFNC/dFNC), alterations in global network switching and their links to cognitive performances. ARHL was associated with decreased sFNC/dFNC within the default mode network (DMN) and increased sFNC/dFNC between the DMN and central executive, salience (SN), and visual networks.

This study investigated pathogenic genes associated with non-syndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate (NSCL/P) through transcriptome-wide association studies (TWAS). By integrating expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) data with genome-wide association study (GWAS) data, we identified key susceptibility genes, including . Notably, the variant rs12884809 G>A was associated with an increased risk of NSCL/P by enhancing the binding of the transcription factor ELK1 to the promoter, thereby activating its expression.

This study demonstrates that LINC00525 enhances cell proliferation and collagen expression through knockdown and overexpression techniques.

Exploring the Genetic Association Between Connective Tissue Diseases and the Risk of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension: A Mendelian Randomization Analysis.

This study aimed to explore the potential causal link between genetic predisposition to various connective tissue diseases (CTDs), namely systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Sjögren's syndrome (SS), polymyositis (PM), dermatomyositis (DM), systemic sclerosis (SSc), mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD), and rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and the incidence of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) utilizing Mendelian randomization (MR). Employing a two-sample MR approach, genetic variants associated with CTDs served as instrumental variables to investigate the exposure-outcome relationship, with GWAS data sourced from the FinnGen Biobank. Comprehensive statistical analyses, including the inverse variance weighted (IVW) method, were conducted, alongside heterogeneity, pleiotropy, and sensitivity tests to ensure the robustness and validity of findings.

Armored polymyxin B: a nanosystem for combating multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacilli.

Bacterial infections cause high morbidity and mortality worldwide, and the emergence of drug-resistant bacteria further complicates the treatment of infections. In 2007, the first joint expert consensus document was issued, guiding healthcare professionals involved in catheter or surgical AF ablation. Mounting research evidence and technological advances have resulted in a rapidly changing landscape in the field of catheter and surgical AF ablation, thus stressing the need for regularly updated versions of this partnership which were issued in 2012 and 2017.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a highly malignant tumor with a five-year survival rate of 13%, the lowest among all malignant tumors. The work aims to use bioinformatics methods to mine Nerve-cancer crosstalk-related genes (NCCGs) in pancreatic cancer and evaluate their correlation with tumor stage and prognosis, thereby providing a new direction of development and experimental basis for pancreatic cancer treatment.
