Doxorubicin (DOX) has a limitation in clinical oncology due to its dose-dependent cardiotoxicity. Thiolutin (THL) can undermine DOX-induced cardiomyocyte injury by inhibiting the NLRP3 inflammasome activation, yet the efficacy of THL in DOX-induced cardiotoxicity (DOXIC) needs to be validated in animal models. DOX-induced mice were treated with THL to evaluate the efficacy of THL.

The accurate categorization of lung nodules in CT scans is an essential aspect in the prompt detection and diagnosis of lung cancer. The categorization of grade and texture for nodules is particularly significant since it can aid radiologists and clinicians to make better-informed decisions concerning the management of nodules. However, currently existing nodule classification techniques have a singular function of nodule classification and rely on an extensive amount of high-quality annotation data, which does not meet the requirements of clinical practice.

Background: In past studies, non-medical factors in the social-healthcare-patient triad associated with the prevalence of COVID-19 have led to delays in the presentation of patients with acute appendicitis and an increase in complications. However, as research progresses, there is increasing evidence of a clinical association between COVID-19 and the development of acute appendicitis.
Methods: The effect of COVID-19 prevalence and associated factors on acute appendicitis in the control (2016-2019) and exposed (2020-2023) groups was derived from a retrospective study of 3070 patients with acute appendicitis from 2016 to 2023.
Aims: To investigate the relationship between medical narrative ability and humanistic care ability among Chinese clinical nurses, examining the potential mediating role of empathy.
Background: In the context of the bio-psychosocial medical model and humanistic nursing care, understanding the core competencies of medical narrative ability, empathy and humanistic care in nursing is crucial. This study explored the mediating role of empathy between medical narrative ability and humanistic care ability.

The role of the intratumoral microbiome in gastric cancer (GC) has not been comprehensively assessed. Here, we explored the relationship between the microbial community and GC prognosis and therapy efficacy. Several cancer-associated microbial characteristics were identified, including increased α-diversity, differential β-diversity, and decreased abundance.

Lung adenocarcinoma is a malignant tumor with high morbidity and mortality. ZBTB16 plays a double role in various tumors; however, the potential mechanism of ZBTB16 in the pathophysiology of lung adenocarcinoma has yet to be elucidated. We herein observed a decreased expression of ZBTB16 mRNA and protein in lung adenocarcinoma and a significantly increased DNA methylation level of ZBTB16 in patients with lung adenocarcinoma.

Objective: To explore the relationship between the completion time of fluid resuscitation as well as negative fluid balance volumes and the prognosis of patients with septic shock, and to try to construct a prediction model based on the completion time of fluid resuscitation and negative fluid balance volumes, and to verify the predictive efficacy of the model on the prognosis of patients with septic shock.
Methods: Patients with septic shock admitted to Wuxi People's Hospital from April 2020 to April 2023 were selected. The general data (gender, age, body mass index, infection site), pathological indicators on admission, the difference of acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II (APACHE II) and sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) between admission and 24 hours after fluid resuscitation, the completion time of fluid resuscitation and negative fluid balance volume were recorded.

Ribosome production factor 2 homolog (RPF2) plays an important role in the life processes of ribosomal biogenesis; however, the function and mechanism of RPF2 in tumors are unclear. The present study demonstrated that RPF2 expression is involved in chemoresistance in colorectal cancer (CRC) cells. The current study demonstrated that upregulation of RPF2 expression in CRC promoted resistance to chemotherapeutic agents in CRC cells, whereas knockdown of RPF2 leads to increased sensitivity of CRC to chemotherapy.

Objective: The present study was undertaken to assess the clinical significance of action research-based seamless care to improve imaging efficiency and alleviate patient anxiety.
Methods: A total of eighty patients who underwent imaging examinations in our hospital between May 2019 and November 2020 were recruited for this study. The patients were randomly assigned to two groups: the control group receiving routine care and the observation group receiving seamless care based on action research.

The origin of chronic pain is linked to inflammation, characterized by increased levels of proinflammatory cytokines in local tissues and systemic circulation. Transforming growth factor beta-activated kinase 1 (TAK1) is a key regulator of proinflammatory cytokine signaling that has been well characterized in the context of cancer and autoimmune disorders, yet its role in chronic pain is less clear. Here, we evaluated the ability of our TAK1 small-molecule inhibitor, takinib, to attenuate pain and inflammation in preclinical models of inflammatory, neuropathic, and primary pain.

Background: Hemoporfin-mediated photodynamic therapy (Hemoporfin-PDT) has been approved for port-wine stain (PWS) in China in 2017. This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of Hemoporfin-PDT for PWS in a real life setting and investigated factors that influence the efficacy.
Methods: A multicenter retrospective study included patients with PWS who underwent Hemoporfin-PDT in 29 hospitals across China and completed at least two months of follow-up.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is a severe and deadly form of diffuse parenchymal lung disease and treatment options are few. Alveolar epithelial type 2 (AEC2) cell senescence is implicated in the pathogenies of IPF. A major bioactive compound from the traditional Chinese medicine , arctiin (ARC) has robust anti-inflammatory, anti-senescence, and anti-fibrosis functions.

GPR15 plays an important role in lymphocyte homing and is a key immune molecule to maintain organ immune homeostasis. Yet, no study on the association between GPR15 and Graves' disease (GD) is available. In this study, we systematically investigated the expression of GPR15 in different types of immune cells and different tissues of GD patients.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) is the most common malignant tumors and the leading cause of cancer deaths among women. The early diagnosis and treatment of BC are effective measures that can increase survival rates and reduce mortality. Carbohydrate antigens 15-3 (CA15-3) and carcinoma embryonic antigens (CEA) have been regarded as the most two valuable tumor markers of BC.

As an emerging diabetes diagnostic indicator and a dynamic change index, HbA1c can not only reflect the average blood glucose level over a period of time but can also well predict the incidence of related microvascular complications. It is important to develop a detection method that can dynamically characterize HbA1c. Silicon nanowire (SiNW) devices were mass-produced using top-down sputtering technology, and a microdialyzer was installed in a SiNW field effect tube biosensor detection system.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common malignancies of the gastrointestinal tract, and its prognosis is closely related to the degree of tumor invasion and metastasis. Ribosome production factor 2 homolog (RPF2) plays an important role in the process of ribosome biogenesis; however, its biological function in the progression of malignant tumors including CRC remains unknown. It was found that RPF2 expression was significantly higher in CRC tissues than in the adjacent normal tissue, using mRNA chip technology.
