Development and validation of a scale to measure the care needs of Crohn's disease patients: a mixed-methods study.

Background: Crohn's disease (CD) patients require varying levels of supportive care. In order to facilitate caregivers and nurses in precisely evaluating the caregiving requirements of these patients, we developed the CD-specific Care Needs Scale (CD-CNS).

Methods: This study employed a mixed-methods approach, integrating qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

Analysis of current situation and influencing factors of marital adjustment in patients with Crohn's disease and their spouses.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the marital adjustment of patients with Crohn's disease and their spouses, and to analyze its influencing factors. It lays the investigation foundation for the follow-up binary study of Crohn's disease patients and their spouses. Using convenience sampling, 177 pairs of patients and their spouses from a tertiary hospital in Nanjing, China were selected.

[Preliminary clinical application of novel magnetic navigation and ultrasound-guided percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography drainage through the right liver duct for malignant obstructive jaundice].

To analyze the clinical application value of a novel magnetic navigation ultrasound (MNU) combined with digital subtraction angiography (DSA) dual-guided percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTCD) through the right hepatic duct for the treatment of malignant obstructive jaundice. Randomized controlled trial. The clinical data of 64 patients with malignant obstructive jaundice requiring PTCD through the right hepatic duct at the Hepatobiliary Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University (Jiangsu Province People's Hospital) from December 2018 to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed.

[THRIVE combined with i-gel laryngeal mask for prolonging apneic oxygenation time in retrograde intrarenal surgery].

Objective: To explore the effect of THRIVE combined with i-gel laryngeal mask on the safety of oxygen therapy in apnea and surgical precision of retrograde intrarenal surgery.

Methods: A total of 120 patients undergoing retrograde intrarenal surgery under general anesthesia with laryngeal mask were randomized into 3 groups (=40), and after the flexible ureteroscope entered the renal pelvis and located the stones, the patients received assisted ventilation in APPV mode (control group), ventilation with small tidal volume and high respiratory rate (group H), or THRIVE combined with laryngeal mask for oxygen supply without using the ventilator (THRIVE group). The time for lithotripsy by the surgeons, surgeons' satisfaction, diaphragm mobility, and times of urinary tract mucosal injury were recorded, and arterial blood pressure, heart rate, SpO, PaO, PaCO, and pH value were measured before, during and after lithotripsy.

[Exploration of the effect of blood lipids on the lesion distribution pattern in acute ischemic stroke based on MRI study with population standard spatial analysis].

To explore the effect of blood lipids on the lesion distribution pattern in patients with acute ischemic stroke by using MRI technology based on population standard spatial analysis. The MRI data of 1 202 patients with acute ischemic stroke in General Hospital of Eastern Theater Command from January 2015 to December 2020 and Nanjing First Hospital from January 2013 to December 2021 were retrospectively collected, including 871 males and 331 females, aged 26 to 94 (64±11) years. According to the condition of blood lipids, they were divided into the dyslipidemia group (=683) and the normal blood lipids group (=519).

Knockdown of VDAC1 alleviates the cognitive dysfunction secondary to sepsis-associated encephalopathy.

Sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) is a serious and diffuse cerebral dysregulation with a high morbidity and mortality caused by sepsis. Mitophagy plays an important role in SAE, and microglial phagocytosis of apoptotic cells (efferocytosis) is the core of the brain regenerative response. Voltage dependent anion channel (VDAC1) is an important regulator of mitophagy.

[Predictive value of glycemic variability within 6 hours on the short-term prognosis of patients with septic shock].

Objective: To investigate the predictive value of different glycemic variability indexes within 6 hours on the short-term prognosis of septic shock patients.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted. The 133 patients with septic shock admitted to intensive care unit (ICU) of Nanjing Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University from December 2014 to December 2019 were enrolled.

Clopidogrel-Induced Gastric Injury in Rats is Attenuated by Stable Gastric Pentadecapeptide BPC 157.

Aim: Although Clopidogrel is safe in healthy volunteers, it can induce recurrence of gastric ulcers in high-risk patients. Here, we investigated the protective effect of the natural product, stable gastric pentadecapeptide 157 (BPC 157) on Clopidogrel-induced gastric injury.

Methods: We used acetic acid to induce gastric ulcer in Sprague Dawley rats.

[Comparison of effectiveness of anterior subcutaneous internal fixator and plate internal fixation for unstable anterior pelvic ring fractures].

Objective: To compare the effectiveness of anterior subcutaneous pelvic internal fixator (INFIX) and plate internal fixation in treatment of unstable anterior pelvic ring fractures.

Methods: The clinical data of 48 patients with unstable anterior pelvic ring fractures who met the selection criteria between June 2014 and December 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Among them, 21 cases were treated with INFIX (INFIX group), and 27 cases were treated with plate (plate group).

[Ultrasound assessment of gastric insufflation in obese patients receiving transnasal humidified rapid-insufflation ventilatory exchange during general anesthesia induction].

Objective: To assess the effect of transnasal humidified rapid-insufflation ventilatory exchange (THRIVE) on gastric insufflation during general anesthesia induction in obese patients.

Methods: Ninety obese patients (BMI 30-39.9 kg/m) undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy under general anesthesia were randomized into 3 groups (=30) to receive facemask pre- oxygenation followed by face mask ventilation (FMV) after administration of anesthetics (Group M), oxygenation with THRIVE (Group T), or pre-oxygenation with facemask combined with THRIVE followed continuous oxygenation with both FMV and THRIVE after administration of anesthetics (Group M+T).

[Positive rate and accuracy of ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration cytology for detecting suspected thyroid carcinoma nodules of different sizes].

Objective: To analyze the accuracy and positive rate of ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (US-FNA) cytology for detecting suspected thyroid cancer nodules of different sizes.

Methods: A total of 591 patients with 594 suspected malignant thyroid nodules received examinations with US-FNA cytology. Based on their size, the nodules were divided into group I (4-5 mm), group II (6-10 mm), group III (>10 mm).

The efficacy and safety of intravenous tranexamic acid in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: A randomized controlled trial protocol.

Background: The safety and efficacy of intravenous tranexamic acid (TXA) in the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction remains controversial. There is an urgent need of studies that efficiently control for confounding, conduct comprehensive and consecutive observation of potential risks of the TXA administration, and investigate its clinical applicability. The purpose of this work is to assess the safety and efficacy of the intravenous TXA in decreasing perioperative blood loss in the patients undergoing ACL reconstruction.

Role of MKP-5-p38/MAPK pathway in Clopidogrel-induced gastric mucosal epithelial cells apoptosis and tight junction dysfunction.

Bleeding and delayed healing of gastric ulcer are well-recognized in patients following Clopidorgrel treatment. Our previous studies have shown that endoplasmic reticulum stress (ER) is involved in Clopidogrel-induced gastric mucosal damage through activating p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) pathway. This present study aims to further investigate the role of MAP kinase phosphatase 5 (MKP-5), a MKP known to dephosphorylate and inactivate p38/MAPK, in Clopidogrel-induced gastric mucosal injury and the underlying mechanisms.

Use of Mechanical Stretching to Treat Skin Graft Contracture.

After transplantation, skin grafts contract to different degrees, thus affecting the appearance and function of the skin graft sites. The exact mechanism of contracture after skin grafting remains unclear, and reliable treatment measures are lacking; therefore, new treatment methods must be identified. Many types of centripetal contraction forces affect skin graft operation, thus leading to centripetal contracture.

Neutrophil extracellular traps induced by VP1 contribute to pulmonary edema during EV71 infection.

Pulmonary edema is a fatal complication of EV71-associated hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD). The pathogenesis of EV71-induced pulmonary edema remains largely unclear. In this study, we aimed to explore the roles of the capsid protein VP1 in the occurrence of EV71-induced pulmonary edema.

[Propofol protects human cardiac AC16 cells from CoCl2-induced hypoxic injury].

To explore the effect of propofol on human cardiac AC16 cells under CoCl2-induced hypoxic injury and the possible mechanisms.
 Methods: Human AC16 cardiomyocytes were treated with cobalt chloride (CoCl2) to mimic hypoxic condition in cultured cardiomyocytes. The AC16 cells were divided into 3 groups: a control group, a CoCl2 hypoxia group (CoCl2 group), and a propofol+CoCl2 group (propofol+ CoCl2 group).

[Evaluation of changes in right ventricular myocardial mechanical properties in breast cancer patients receiving pirarubicin using three-dimensional speckle tracking imaging].

Objective: To evaluate the changes in the mechanical properties of the right ventricular myocardium (RVM) after chemotherapy using three-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (3D-STI).

Methods: Thirty-six breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy with pirarubicin underwent examinations with 3D-STI to test the mechanical properties of the RVM before chemotherapy and at the end of the second, fourth, and sixth cycles of chemotherapy (C2, C4, and C6, respectively). Blood levels of hs-cTnI and NT-proBNP were also examined at the same time points.

[PDE5: A new therapeutic target for lower urinary tract symptoms/ benign prostatic hyperplasia combined with erectile dysfunction].

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) is a common disease with frequent occurrence in elderly men, and its incidence shows a significant positive correlation with age. Evidence has confirmed that BPH/LUTS is closely related to erectile dysfunction (ED) and significantly affects the quality of life of elderly males. Phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors (PDE5i) can improve both ED and BPH/LUTS of the patients and PDE5 is expected to be a new therapeutic target for BPH/LUTS with ED.

Objective: To explore the effectiveness and advantage of three-dimensional (3D) printed navigation templates assisted Ludloff osteotomy in treatment of moderate and severe hallux valgus.

Methods: Between April 2013 and February 2015, 28 patients (28 feet) with moderate and severe hallux valgus who underwent Ludloff osteotomy were randomly divided into 2 groups ( =14). In group A, the patients were treated with Ludloff osteotomy assissted with a 3D printed navigation template.

Objective: To prepare dopamine modified and cartilage derived morphogenetic protein 1 (CDMP1) laden polycaprolactone-hydroxyapatite (PCL-HA) composite scaffolds by three-dimensional (3D) printing and evaluate the effect of 3D scaffolds on chondrogenic differentiation of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (hBMSCs).

Methods: A dimensional porous PCL-HA scaffold was fabricated by 3D printing. Dopamine was used to modify the surface of PCL-HA and then CDMP-1 was loaded into scaffolds.

[Expression of KIF23 and Its Prognostic Role in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer: Analysis Based on the Data-mining of Oncomine].

Background: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is one of the most common cause of cancer-related death worldwide. As the overall prognosis for affected patients is still poor, there is a need for biomarkers for prediction of survival and guiding individual therapy. This study is to explore the expression and significance of kinesin family member 23 (KIF23) in NSCLC.

[Mechanisms for the regulatory effect of prostaglandin E2/prostaglandin E receptor 4 on high mobility group box-1 protein in lipopolysaccharide-induced sepsis in mouse peritoneal macrophage].

To explore the effect of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) on the expression of high mobility group box-1 protein (HMGB1) in peritoneal macrophages of septic mice and its possible mechanisms.
 Methods: The mouse peritoneal macrophages were isolated and cultured by conventional methods.The model of inflammation was established by using lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to incubate with mouse peritoneal macrophages.

[Comparison of Ablation Lesions of Porcine Thyroid in Vivo Ablated with Laser].

To explore the ablation effect of porcine thyroid in vivo ablated with 3 W/1800 J ND:YAG laser, ultrasound examination and contrast-ultrasound were done to observe scope of ablation lesion. The experimental results showed that the ablation effect of porcine thyroid in vivo ablated with 3 W/1 800 J ND:YAG laser is definite, and ideal ablation lesion can be formed.

TLR4 and Caveolin-1 in Monocytes Are Associated With Inflammatory Conditions in Diabetic Neuropathy.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the expression of TLR4 and caveolin-1 in monocytes among healthy volunteers as well as those with type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). Nineteen healthy control subjects, 18 patients with T2DM, and 20 patients with DPN were enrolled. Toll-like receptor (TLR)4, caveolin-1, MyD88, phosphorylated IκB, and plasma TNF-α and interleukin (IL)-6 were measured using real-time polymerase chain reaction, Western blotting, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.
