Maturity onset diabetes of the young type 5(MODY5) is typically attributed to mutations in the HNF1B gene, which encodes transcription factors that play a significant role in kidney development and function maintenance. In this study, we identified a novel HNF1B gene mutation (c.445C > A) in a young male MODY5 patient exhibiting elevated serum creatinine levels and albuminuria.

Background And Objectives: Surgery is an essential treatment for non-distant metastatic cutaneous melanoma (NMCM). We aim to construct and validate prognostic nomograms based on surgical approaches and the clinicopathological characteristics of NMCM patients.
Methods: Data of patients diagnosed with cutaneous melanoma from 2004 to 2015 were identified from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database.

Heel ulcer is one of the severe complications of patients with diabetes mellitus, which poses a high risk for foot infection and amputation, especially in patients with peripheral arterial disease and neuropathy. Researchers have searched for new treatments for treating diabetic foot ulcers in recent years. In this case report, we demonstrated the treatment of large ischemic ulcers for the first time in a diabetic patient.

Background: Inflammatory pseudotumor-like follicular dendritic cell sarcoma (IPT-like FDCS) is often associated with Epstein-Barr (EB) virus infection. The tumor is commonly found in the spleen and liver, and it has been reported in the literature that it can be associated with paraneoplastic pemphigus, myasthenia gravis, and other diseases. A case of IPT-like FDCS with clinical features of thrombocytopenia has not been reported.

Purpose: Through the study of regulatory T cells (Tregs), we found a possible way to promote the healing of diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) with maggot treatment and investigated the associated mechanism.
Methods: Immunohistochemistry was used to examinetissues from DFU patients treated with or without maggot debridement therapy (MDT). The expression of the signature Treg molecule Foxp3, interleukin-10 (IL-10), transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), and interferon regulatory factor 4 (IRF-4) in patients with DFU treated with or without MDT was tested by real-time PCR (RT-PCR).

To investigate the mechanism of maggot debridement therapy (MDT) in promoting wound angiogenesis in patients with diabetic foot ulcer (DFU). (1) From June 2018 to June 2019, the patients admitted to Nanjing Junxie Hospital who met the inclusion criteria were recruited, including 12 DFU patients given MDT for three days [6 males and 6 females, aged (56±12) years] and 12 acute trauma patients without diabetes mellitus [6 males and 6 females, aged (53±10) years], who were enrolled into DFU group and non-diabetic trauma group respectively. Before and after application of MDT, the wound characteristics of patients in DFU group were observed and the wound tissue samples were taken.

Many cellular signals that are activated by Gram—negative bacteria are initiated by LPS. LPS triggers not only inflammatory responses, but also activates pro—apoptotic signals in a series of human cell types.

Earlier age at menarche is a major risk factor for breast cancer. Our previous study identified Nrip1 (also known as Rip140) as a candidate gene for delaying female sexual maturation (FSM) and found that knocking out Nrip1 could significantly delay FSM in mice. To investigate the effects of NRIP1 in breast cancer we used human cell lines and tissue arrays along with an in vivo study of DMBA-induced carcinogenesis in Nrip1 knockout mice.
