Land use change stemming from human activities, particularly cropland expansion, heavily threatens the survival of crop wild relatives that usually occur nearby or scatter in farming systems. Understanding the impacts of land use change on wild populations is critical in forming the conservation decision-making of wild relatives. Based on the investigations on the population survival of three wild rice species (, , and ) in China over the past 40 years (1978-2019), the effect of land use change during the past 20 years (2001-2019) on the natural populations of the three species was examined using the land use type data of satellite-based Earth observations (data from GlobCover).

Polychlorinated diphenyl ethers (PCDEs) have been detected in various aquatic matrices, which pose potential threats to aquatic ecosystem security. In this work, both micro and macro analysis methods were used to assess the toxicity of PCDEs to zebrafish. Results indicated that after PCDE exposure, the oxidative stress and related gene of were significantly changed.

Polychlorinated diphenyl sulfides (PCDPSs) represent an emerging group of constituents that are persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) substances of great concern in terms of human health and ecological integrity. However, little is known about the occurrence, environmental behaviour and ecological risks of PCDPSs in lake environments. In this study, the concentrations of 21 PCDPSs were determined in surface water, suspended particulate matter (SPM), sediments, and 8 fish species from Chaohu Lake, China.

The frequent detection of polychlorinated diphenyl ethers (PCDEs) in aquatic systems has aroused widespread concerns, however, their potential hazard to aquatic ecosystems has been poorly understood. Here the acute toxicity of 12 PCDE congeners was evaluated in three model aquatic organisms representing different trophic levels following OECD test guidelines, including green algae (Scenedesmus obliquus), water flea (Daphnia magna), and zebrafish (Danio rerio). Dose-dependent increases in growth inhibition and mortality were observed for all tested PCDE congeners.

Crop-wild gene flow may alter the fitness of the recipient i.e., crop-wild hybrids, then potentially impact wild populations, especially for the gene flow carrying selective advantageous crop alleles, such as transgenes conferring insect resistance.

A high-flux thin film nanocomposite (TFN) nanofiltration (NF) membrane for low pressure operation (3.5 bar) was fabricated by blending purified amino-functionalized single-walled carbon nanotubes (NH-SWCNTs) with piperazine (PIP) as aqueous phase monomers through interfacial polymerization (IP). The surface properties and structures of the polyamide (PA) active layer were suitably tailored by introducing different amounts of NH-SWCNTs into the PA layer.

The recycling of waterworks sludge has become a trending issue because it not only solves the problem of difficult disposal but also saves land resources. This paper aimed to provide a new idea for the utilization of waterworks sludge to form ceramsite and to purify sewage. The specific surface area, average pore size, and pore volume of the made ceramsite were 8.
