Background: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is one of the most dangerous complications of total joint arthroplasty (TJA). Systemic inflammation has proved to have a great contribution to thrombosis and has been considered as a risk factor for DVT recently. The lymphocyte to monocyte ratio (LMR) and monocyte to high-density lipoprotein (HDL) ratio (MHR) are two biomarkers used widely for systemic inflammation.

Rationale: High tibial osteotomy (HTO) has been used widely for medial compartment knee osteoarthritis to correct the deformity and relieve symptoms, especially in young patients who are willing to maintain the high activity level. However, the change of bone morphology, ligament imbalance, limb malalignment, and other complications may influence the short-term outcomes of HTO. Some cases may even require conversion to TKA shortly after HTO because of the loss of correction or pain due to accelerated osteoarthritis.

Background: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is one of the major complications of total joint arthroplasty (TJA). Chronic kidney dysfunction (CKD) has proven to promote a proinflammatory and prothrombotic state and is prevalent among patients undergoing TJA. The purpose of this study is to identify whether CKD increase the risk of DVT following TJA.

Introduction: The use of bioabsorbable interference screws has become popular for treatment of avulsion fractures of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL). Complications are uncommon. We report a case of severe chondral damage caused by the early breakage of an absorbable screw head after fixation of an avulsion fracture of the tibial attachment of the PCL.
