Angio-based microvascular resistance (AMR) as a potential alternative to the index of microcirculatory resistance (IMR) and its relationship with microvascular obstruction (MVO) and other cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) parameters still lacks comprehensive validation. This study aimed to validate the correlation between AMR and CMR-derived parameters and to construct an interpretable machine learning (ML) model, incorporating AMR and clinical data, to forecast MVO in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI). We enrolled 452 STEMI patients from Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital between 2018 and 2022, who received both PPCI and CMR.

Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) is a common factor in age-related diseases such as stroke and dementia, and about half of dementia patients worldwide are caused by CSVD. CSVD-related cognitive impairment (CSVD-CI) affects more and more elderly people, resulting in economic losses and burdens on families and society. In recent years, circulating biomarkers have made breakthroughs and played an increasingly important role in the diagnosis, progression, and prognosis of CSVD-associated cognitive impairment, and are expected to be applied to the early clinical detection, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with cerebral small vessel disease.

Background: The skin microbiota, a complex community of microorganisms residing on the skin, plays a crucial role in maintaining skin health and overall homeostasis. Recent research has suggested that alterations in the composition and function of the skin microbiota may influence the aging process. However, the causal relationships between specific skin microbiota and biological aging remain unclear.

The exclusion of cirrhosis is important in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients with normal alanine aminotransferase (ALT). We aimed to optimise the performance of the aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio index (APRI) and fibrosis score based on four factors (FIB-4) to exclude cirrhosis in these patients. Five hundred and eighty four patients with normal ALT who underwent liver biopsy were included in the study.

The biofunction of in intestinal-related diseases.

Microbiome Res Rep

September 2024

Department of Gastroenterology, Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, Affiliated Hospital of Medical School, Nanjing University, Nanjing 210008, Jiangsu, China.

Intestinal homeostasis is essential for maintaining human health, and its dysfunction is related to the onset and progression of various diseases, including immune and metabolic disorders, and even tumorigenesis. Intestinal microbiota plays a critical role in intestinal homeostasis, with () emerging as a key commensal bacterium utilizing mucin as its sole carbon and nitrogen source. has been recognized in both experimental and clinical studies for its beneficial role in managing intestinal inflammation, tumors, functional gastrointestinal disorders, and secondary conditions such as liver and metabolic diseases.
