Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) is a common complication following surgeries involving general anesthesia. Although the CCL5-CCR5 axis is implicated in various neurological conditions, its role in POCD remains unclear. In our POCD model, we observed an increase in CCL5 and CCR5 levels concurrent with microglial activation and significant upregulation of inflammatory cytokines IL-6 and IL-1β.

Background: To retrospectively analyze the risk factors of liver metastases in patients with gastric cancer in a single center, and to establish a Nomogram prediction model to predict the occurrence of liver metastases.
Methods: A total of 96 patients with gastric cancer who were also diagnosed with liver metastasis (GCLM) and treated in our center from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2020 were included. The clinical data of 1095 patients with gastric cancer who were diagnosed without liver metastases (GC) in our hospital from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2017 were retrospectively compared by univariate and multivariate logistic regression.

Background: It was reported that the cachexia index (CXI: ) was an essential index for predicting the prognosis of tumor patients. However, since for SMI needs to be measured by CT imaging methods and its calculation was inconvenient. Thus, we developed a modified cachexia index (mCXI: ).

Background: The controlling nutritional status (CONUT) score effectively reflects a patient's nutritional status, which is closely related to cancer prognosis. This study investigated the relationship between the CONUT score and prognosis after radical surgery for colorectal cancer, and compared the predictive ability of the CONUT score with other indexes.
Aim: To analyze the predictive performance of the CONUT score for the survival rate of colorectal cancer patients who underwent potentially curative resection.

Objective: To explore the genetic etiology and related factors in 1 065 women with spontaneous abortions.
Methods: All patients have presented at the Center of Prenatal Diagnosis of Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital from January 2018 to December 2021. Chorionic villi and fetal skin samples were collected, and the genomic DNA was assayed by chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA).

We previously reported that postsynaptic density-93 mediates neuron-microglia crosstalk by interacting with amino acids 357-395 of C X3 C motif chemokine ligand 1 (CX3CL1) to induce microglia polarization. More importantly, the peptide Tat-CX3CL1 (comprising amino acids 357-395 of CX3CL1) disrupts the interaction between postsynaptic density-93 and CX3CL1, reducing neurological impairment and exerting a protective effect in the context of acute ischemic stroke. However, the mechanism underlying these effects remains unclear.

The pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin 17 (IL-17), that is mainly produced by Th17 cells, has been recognized as a key regulator in multiple sclerosis (MS) and experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). Reactive astrocytes stimulated by proinflammatory cytokines including IL-17 are involved in blood brain barrier destruction, inflammatory cells infiltration and spinal cord injury. However, the role of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) induced by IL-17 in the pathogenesis of MS and EAE remains unknown.

Small G protein Ras induces the activation of apoptosis-related molecule mammalian Ste20-like kinase1 (MST1)/JNK signal pathway, which is involved in the regulation of tissue damage under pathological conditions such as ischemic stroke. Our previous study indicated that GTPase-activating protein for Ras (SynGAP), a negative regulator of Ras, could bind with postsynaptic density protein-93 (PSD-93) and Tat-SynGAP (670-685aa) small peptide to exhibit neuroprotective role. Here, we report that Tat-SynGAP (670-685aa) reduced cerebral edema at acute cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R), improved integrity of blood-brain barrier, and decreased cortical and striatum neuronal injury.

A total of 63 patients with thoracic PHN from March 2019 to December 2020 in Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University Medical School were enrolled and randomly divided into study group (=31) and control group (=32) by random number table method. The study group received DRG-PRF treatment assisted by 3D-printed navigation template, while the control group received DRG-PRF treatment guided by conventional CT.

Objective: Hyperbilirubinemia after cardiac surgery increases in-hospital mortality and is associated with poor prognosis. Our present study aimed to compare the efficacy of bilirubin adsorption (BA) and plasma exchange (PEX) in patients with hyperbilirubinemia after cardiac surgery.
Methods: We retrospectively included patients who underwent BA treatment or PEX treatment due to severe hyperbilirubinemia after cardiac surgery at our center from 2015 to 2020.
