Background: Milrinone is widely used for enhancing myocardial contractility, however, there is inadequate data to suggest whether it is preferable to other inotropic agents in critically ill patients. To observe the effect of milrinone on prognosis in adult critically ill patients, we conducted this meta-analysis.
Methods: A search of the following databases was conducted: Medline, Elsevier, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials and Web of Science databases, and eligible randomized controlled trials including adult critically ill patients were screened.

PGC1α, a central player in mitochondrial biology, holds a complex role in the metabolic shifts seen in cancer cells. While its dysregulation is common across major cancers, its impact varies. In some cases, downregulation promotes aerobic glycolysis and progression, whereas in others, overexpression escalates respiration and aggression.

There is no detailed study on how tidal volume (VT) affects patients during one-lung ventilation (OLV). The present study conducted a meta-analysis to assess the effect of VT on physiology and clinical outcomes in OLV patients. Databases until February 2023 were retrieved from PubMed, Cochrane Library and Web of Science.

The Postural Instability/Gait Difficulty (PIGD) subtype of Parkinson's disease (PD) has a faster disease progression, a higher risk of cognitive and motor decline, yet the alterations of structural topological organization remain unknown. Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) and 3D-TI scanning were conducted on 31 PD patients with PIGD (PD-PIGD), 30 PD patients without PIGD (PD-non-PIGD) and 35 Healthy Controls (HCs). Structural networks were constructed using DTI brain white matter fiber tractography.

Background: Coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) is a frequent complication of diabetes mellitus (DM) characterized by challenges in both diagnosis and intervention. Circulating levels of microRNAs are increasingly recognized as potential biomarkers for cardiovascular diseases.
Methods: Serum exosomes from patients with DM, DM with coronary microvascular dysfunction (DM-CMD) or DM with coronary artery disease (DM-CAD) were extracted for miRNA sequencing.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Jin-Si-Wei (JSW), a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula, have cognitive enhancing effect and delay the memory decline in an animal model of AD, which has been reported. However, the therapeutic mechanism of JSW in the treatment of AD remains unclear.
Aim Of The Study: This study aimed to verify the pharmacodynamics of JSW in the treatment of AD, and to explore its potential mechanism based on network pharmacology, molecular docking and experimental validation both in vitro and in vivo.

Background: Genetic factors contribute to the variability in individual response to antihypertensive medications. We sought to investigate the frequencies of allele and genotype for and genetic polymorphisms and explore their potential impact in influencing the selection of antihypertensive beta-receptor blockers.
Methods: The study population was selected from the Han Chinese patients in Zhongda Hospital, which contained 2419 Han Chinese hypertensive individuals and 151 normotensive controls.

About half of osteosarcomas occur near the knee joint, but other sites such as the humerus, upper femur, fibula, spine, and ilium can also occur. However, rib osteosarcoma is rarely reported. Here, we report the case of a 17-year-old female who was found to have a left dorsal mass on physical examination.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) treatment requires a nanosystem for drug delivery that can effectively penetrate the blood-spinal cord barrier (BSCB). Herein, we designed poly(2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylgallylcholine) (PMPC)/l-arginine (PMPC/A)-based nanomotors that can release nitric oxide (NO). The nanomotors were loaded with the inducible NO synthase inhibitor 1400W and nerve growth factor (NGF).

Background: Although there were a variety of strategies for the alimentary tract reconstruction of patients with gastric cancer who underwent laparoscopic radical distal gastrectomy, it remains controversial regarding which procedure is optimal. We developed a simple technique for Roux-en-Y reconstruction during laparoscopic surgery and evaluated its technical feasibility and safety.
Methods: Seventy-one cases of modified Roux-en-Y reconstructions after laparoscopic radical distal gastrectomy were consecutively performed in our hospital, from November 2020 to March 2022.

Aim: Type 2 diabetes may impair cardiac structure and function at very early stage, other factors, for example, obesity and hypertension, can induce aforementioned abnormalities individually. This study aimed to explore precise prevention and treatment of diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) by using cluster analysis of echocardiographic variables.
Methods And Results: A total of 66 536 inpatients with diabetes from 2013 to 2018 were investigated, and 7112 patients were available for analysis after nadir.

Nickel nanoparticles (Ni NPs) have a wide range of application prospects, however there is still a lack of their safety evaluation for the reproductive system. Nowadays, male reproductive health has been widely concerned for the increasing incidence of male infertility. To investigate the male reproductive toxicity induced by Ni NPs and its relation with the mitochondrial fission and mitophagy, male mice were administered with or without 5, 15, and 45 mg/kg of Ni NPs by intratracheal instillation.

BACKGROUND The growing number of patients with Alzheimer disease worldwide has become a leading public concern. Whether Alzheimer disease has an impact on the outcomes of critically ill patients remains unclear; therefore, we conducted this study to evaluate comorbid Alzheimer disease in patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). MATERIAL AND METHODS Data were extracted from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care-III database, version 1.

Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) have been widely reported to play an important role in osteoporosis (OP), particularly in diabetes‑related OP. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of AGEs on osteoblast function and the underlying mechanisms. The level of bone mineral density (BMD), serum AGEs and fasting blood glucose (FBG) was measured in patients with OP and healthy individuals, and the correlation between AGE levels and BMD or FBG was then analyzed.

Male reproductive health is deteriorating, and fertility is largely affected by environmental factors. This study aims to investigate the potential mechanism underlying mitochondrial division and mitochondrial autophagy in the male reproductive toxicity of nickel nanoparticles (Ni NPs). An mouse (BALB/c) model was constructed to calculate testicular organ coefficients and sperm abnormality rates, and detect serum reproductive hormones, testicular pathological morphology, and the expression of Drp1, Pink1, and Parkin proteins.

Since its application in medical institutions in China, quality control circle (QCC) has gained achievements in medical care and thus earned more attention from the administrative department of health. This paper focuses on the application of QCC (bone-strength test circle) as a new management concept and tool circle in improving the implementation rate of functional exercise in patients undergoing orthopedic surgery, which further effectively improve the accuracy and compliance of functional exercise in patients undergoing surgery, and further effectively promote the rehabilitation of patients. From July 2018 to November 2018, the management tools and statistical methods of QCC were used to compare the promotion effect of functional exercise execution rate of orthopedic surgery patients before and after QCC activities.
