Background: Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) are easily misdiagnosed as multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB), and treatment drugs are very limited. The main objective of our study was to evaluate the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) in vitro of bedaquiline (BDQ), clofazimine (CFZ), linezolid (LZD), delamanid (DLM), and pretomanid (PA-824) for treatment of and . Furthermore, we determined whether , and were related to drug resistance to provide an experimental basis for the use of these five drugs in the treatment of NTM.

Background: Transmitted drug resistance (TDR) is a major challenge in the clinical management of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the epidemic characteristics of and risk factors for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 TDR in Nanjing from 2018 to 2021 to provide support for clinical management.
Methods: The HIV-1 Pol gene was amplified by nested reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction from venous blood of 1190 HIV-infected patients who did not receive antiviral therapy, and the amplified product was sequenced using an in-house sequencing method.

Sewage treatment plants are an essential source of antibiotics, antibiotic resistance determinants, and bacteria in environmental waters. However, it is still unclear whether they can maintain a relatively stable relationship in wastewater and environmental waters. This study analyzed the removal capacity of the above three pollutants in the sewage treatment plant in summer and their impact on environmental waters, and then examines the relationship between the three contaminants in the wastewater and environmental waters in summer and winter based on our previous study.

Objective: To evaluate the potential risk of lead and cadmium through vegetables and edible fungus in Nanjing City from 2014 to 2018.
Methods: Based on the survey of dietary consumption of residents in Nanjing City, combining with the concentration data of lead and cadmium in vegetables and edible fungus, using @Risk software to simulate and analyze the cumulative dietary exposure in a probabilistic way, and compared with the health guidance value or benchmark dose(BMD) to assess the potential health risks of lead and cadmium for Nanjing residents.
Results: The average exposure of lead and cadmium was 0.

Post-transplantation diabetes mellitus (PTDM) is a common metabolic complication after solid organ transplantation, which not only results in elevated microvascular morbidity, but also seriously impacts graft function and recipient survival. However, its underlying mechanism is not yet fully understood. In this study, an integrated liquid chromatography- mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) based-metabolomics approach was adopted to dissect the metabolic fluctuations and deduce potential mechanism associated with PTDM.

Background: Mumps outbreaks in adolescents who received two doses of measles-mumps-rubella vaccine (MMR) during childhood have been reported worldwide. In China, one dose of MMR administered in children aged among 18-24 months has a limited effect on the mumps epidemic. There are limited prospective studies evaluating the mumps immunity profile of children aged 3-7 years who received one dose of MMR.

Rotaviruses infection is one of the main causes of diarrhea among infants and children in the world, resulting in rotavirus gastroenteritis, which is very harmful and has caused a huge disease burden and no specific drug treatment. This paper reviews the rotavirus etiology, epidemiological characteristics, disease burden of rotavirus gastroenteritis and rotavirus vaccines. RV in group A is the main cause of acute gastroenteritis in infants, people at all ages are generally susceptible to RV, 3 to 24 months infants have the most severe symptoms of diarrhea, RVGE epidemic is seasonal and peaks in winter, increasing RV vaccination can reduce the incidence and mortality of rotavirus diarrhea in infants to reduce the burden of corresponding disease.

The iron acquisition system is an essential virulence factor for human infection and is under tight regulatory control in a variety of pathogens. Ferric-uptake regulator (Fur) is one of Fe-responsive transcription factor that maintains iron homeostasis, and the regulator of capsule synthesis (Rcs) is known to regulate exopolysaccharide biosynthesis. We speculate the Rcs may involve in iron-acquisition given the identified regulator box in the upstream of that participated in the biosynthesis of enterobactin.

Background: In China, antiretroviral therapy (ART) clinics focus on treating people living with HIV and are not required to undertake testing of high-risk populations. To improve partner testing among MSM, we implemented a health communication pilot intervention integrating partner testing with ART services. We aimed to assess the feasibility of the partner referral service and identify the predictors of both successful partner referral for HIV testing and HIV-positive test results among referred partners.
