Background And Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between malnutrition and early neurological deterioration (END) in elderly patients with acute ischemic stroke in China.
Methods: We used the registry data in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University and Nanjing Brain Hospital from June 2019 to January 2021. Malnutrition risk was evaluated by controlling nutritional status score (CONUT), geriatric nutritional risk index (GNRI) and prognostic nutritional index (PNI) score, respectively.
Hemangioblastoma (HB) is a benign vascular tumor that accounts for approximately 2% of intracranial neoplasms. HB of the lateral ventricles is extremely rare. Only a few reports are present in the literature.

Objective: Genome Wide Association study (GWAS) has revealed that the transmembrane protein 132D (TMEM132D) is a gene of sensitive for panic disorder (PD). As the main type of childhood trauma experience, childhood abuse has become a public health issue attracting much attention at home and abroad, and has been proved to be a risk factor for the onset of PD. However, how it affects the occurrence and development of panic disorder has not yet been revealed.

Panic disorder (PD) causes serious functional damage and disability and accelerates the process of individual aging. The pathological basis of PD is the same as that of age-related diseases, which is proposed as a new viewpoint in recent years. Memory decline and social functional impairment are common manifestations of accelerated aging in PD.

Background: Interferons (IFNs) have been implemented as anti-tumor immunity agents in clinical trials of glioma, but only a subset of glioblastoma (GBM) patients profits from it. The predictive role of IFNs stimulated genes in GBM needs further exploration to investigate the clinical role of IFNs.
Methods: This study screened 526 GBM patients from three independent cohorts.

The clinical characteristics of persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD) vary according to patient age and inducing factors. We aimed to analyze the differences in the clinical characteristics of PPPD with different patient age groups and different etiologies. A total of 122 PPPD patients hospitalized in the vertigo ward of Nanjing Brain Hospital from December 2018 to July 2021 were enrolled.

Background: Acute vertebrobasilar artery occlusion (VBAO) is a devastating disease in stroke patients. This study was aimed to identify the initial symptoms of patients with acute VBAO receiving endovascular treatment and determine its associations with clinical outcomes.
Methods: Patients with VBAO receiving endovascular treatment at 21 stroke centres in China were recruited for this derivation cohort A data-driven approach of latent class analysis was applied to identify distinct symptom typologies of VBAO patients.
Objective: This study aimed to test the hypothesis that the relationship between glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) 1 gene methylation and severity of clinical symptoms of panic disorder (PD) is mediated by the effect of GAD1 gene methylation on gray matter volume (GMV) and the effect of GMV on PD.
Methods: Panic disorder ( = 24) patients were recruited consecutively from the Affiliated Brain Hospital of Nanjing Medical University through outpatient and public advertising, eligible healthy controls (HCs) ( = 22) were recruited from public advertising. We compared GMV and GAD1 gene methylation in PD and HCs to estimate the differences, and on the basis of the relationship between gray matter volumes and GAD1 gene methylation in PD patients was evaluated, the role of GMV as a mediator of GAD1 gene methylation and PD clinical symptoms was analyzed.

Background And Importance: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) has been approved to treat a variety of movement disorders, including Parkinson's disease (PD), essential tremor, and dystonia. Following the DBS surgery, some perioperative and even delayed complications due to intracranial and hardware-related events could occur, which may be life-threatening and require immediate remedial measures.
Clinical Presentation: We report a case of an older woman with advanced PD who developed the unique complication of unilateral cyst formation at the tip of the DBS electrode after undergoing bilateral placement of subthalamic nucleus DBS.

Human glioblastoma (GBM), the most aggressive brain tumor, comprises six major subtypes of malignant cells, giving rise to both inter-patient and intra-tumor heterogeneity. The interaction between different tumor subtypes and non-malignant cells to collectively shape a tumor microenvironment has not been systematically characterized. Herein, we sampled the cellular milieu of surgically resected primary tumors from 7 GBM patients using single-cell transcriptome sequencing.

Prior neuroimaging studies have provided preliminary evidence suggesting that CBT can have an impact on the activity of brain regions and functional integration between regions. However, the results are far from conclusive.

Glioma grading plays an important role in surgical resection. We investigated the ability of different feature reduction methods in support vector machine (SVM)-based diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) histogram parameters to distinguish glioma grades. A total of 161 glioma patients who underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) from January 2017 to January 2020 were included retrospectively.

Background: The importance of psychosocial functioning in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) is widely recognised. However, there is a lack of effective scales to assess psychosocial functioning in patients with MDD.
Aims: To develop a professional questionnaire to evaluate the psychosocial functioning of patients with MDD.

Background: Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is an established treatment for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). MDD is characterized by imbalanced communication patterns among three networks: the central executive network (CEN), the default mode network (DMN) and the salience network (SN). The effect of CBT in restoring communications among these networks in MDD is unknown.

Background: Glioma is the most common primary brain tumor with a poor prognosis. Key genes that are negatively related to prognosis may provide the therapy targets to cure glioma. To clarify the role of in glioma, we explored its function at bulk-transcriptome, spatial and single-cell transcriptome levels.

Although multiple signaling pathways contributing to the pathophysiological process have been investigated, treatments for traumatic brain injury (TBI) against present targets have not acquired significant clinical progress. Interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 4 (IRAK4) is an important factor involved in regulating immunity and inflammation. However, the role of IRAK4 in TBI still remains largely unknown.

Background: More than 30% of cancer patients experience neuropathic pain. Opioids, as standard pain-relief agents, cannot achieve satisfactory outcomes to treat neuropathic cancer pain due to drug resistance and side effects. Meanwhile, gabapentin, a third-generation anticonvulsant drug, has great potential in providing relief for neuropathic cancer pain.

Aiming at the limitations of clinical diagnosis of Parkinson's disease (PD) with rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD), in order to improve the accuracy of diagnosis, an intelligent-aided diagnosis method based on few-channel electroencephalogram (EEG) and time-frequency deep network is proposed for PD with RBD. Firstly, in order to improve the speed of the operation and robustness of the algorithm, the 6-channel scalp EEG of each subject were segmented with the same time-window. Secondly, the model of time-frequency deep network was constructed and trained with time-window EEG data to obtain the segmentation-based classification result.
