The neuropeptide F (NPF) signaling, comprising NPF and neuropeptide F receptor (NPFR), role in regulating insect behaviors and physiological processes. We cloned the genes encoding NPF and NPFR from Plutella xylostella, a notorious pest of cruciferous crops. Notably, the NPF gene produced two splicing variants, Px-NPF1 and Px-NPF2, with distinct expression patterns.

This study aimed to understand the development of pale, soft, and exudative (PSE) pork from a new perspective by comparing the differences of lactate-induced protein lactylation and its potential regulators including E1A binding protein p300 (p300) and cAMP response element binding protein (CBP) between PSE and red, firm, and non-exudative (RFN) pork at 1 h postmortem. Results demonstrated that PSE pork presented lower glycogen contents and higher lactate levels than RFN pork (P < 0.05).

Introduction: Hypoxia responses are critical for myriad physiological and pathological processes, such as development, tissue repair, would healing, and tumorigenesis. microRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of small non-coding RNAs that exert their functions by inhibiting the expression of their target genes, and miR-210 is the miRNA universally and most conspicuously upregulated by hypoxia in mammalian systems. For its relationship to hypoxia, miR-210 has been studied extensively, yet no consensus exists on the roles and mechanisms of miR-210 in human physiological processes or diseases, and we know little about genuine miR-210 target genes in humans.

Agricultural mulch is beneficial to agricultural production, but it will cause serious environmental pollution. Poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) mulch has the potential to replace PE mulch to reduce the microplastic pollution in farmland soil. To clarify the effects of the aging behavior of PBAT mulch on soil microbial community composition.

Organoarsenicals are toxic pollutants of global concern, and their environmental geochemical behavior might be greatly controlled by iron (Fe) (hydr)oxides through coprecipitation, which is rarely investigated. Here, the effects of the incorporation of dimethylarsenate (DMAs(V)), a typical organoarsenical, into the ferrihydrite (Fh) structure on the mineral physicochemical properties and Fe(II)-induced phase transformation of DMAs(V)-Fh coprecipitates with As/Fe molar ratios up to 0.0876 ± 0.

The proliferation of weeds, pests, and plant diseases in crop cultivation has driven the increased application of herbicide lactofen, insecticide acetamiprid, and fungicide carbendazim, contributing to environmental pollution. Microorganisms are requently employed to remove pesticide residues from the environment. However, Liquid bacterial agents encounter difficulties in transportation and preservation during application and the current immobilized bacterial agents have a single degradation function.

Forward genetic screens have uncovered numerous genes involved in DNA methylation regulation, but these methods are often time-intensive, costly, and labor-intensive. To address these limitations, this study utilized CRISPR technology to knockout selected co-expressed genes, enabling the rapid identification of low luciferase (LUC) luminescence mutants in the Col-LUC line, which harbors a LUC transgene driven by a 2 × 35S promoter in Arabidopsis. As proof of concept, the repressor of silencing 1 (ROS1) and RNA-directed DNA methylation 1 (RDM1) genes were used as controls, while the increased DNA methylation 3 (IDM3) gene, co-expressed with ROS1, was selected as the target for gene knockout experiments.

Pseudorabies virus (PRV) is a significant pathogen that causes acute infectious diseases in pigs, resulting in considerable economic losses for the global pig industry. The lack of effective control measures and vaccines against the circulating variants of PRV highlights the pressing need for novel treatment strategies. In this study, a screening of a natural product library identified Berbamine as a promising compound that inhibits PRV replication, with a selectivity index of 17.

The Green Revolution in Pakistan introduced intensive agricultural practices aimed at enhancing food security and economic growth. However, these measures have degraded the country's fertile agricultural land and exacerbated climate pollution due to farmers' overexploitation of resources in pursuit of higher yields. Addressing this issue requires identifying factors that can influence farmers' behavior toward adopting sustainable practices.

Chiral molecules are ubiquitous in nature and biological systems, where the unique optical and physical properties of chiral nanoparticles are closely linked to their shapes. Synthesizing chiral plasmonic nanomaterials with precise structures and tunable sizes is essential for exploring their applications. This study presents a method for growing three-dimensional chiral gold nanoflowers (Au NFs) derived from trisoctahedral (TOH) nanocrystals using D-cysteine and L-cysteine as chiral inducers.
