The present investigation determines the persistence of herbicides like butachlor and pretilachlor in Indian soil, and their impact on soil biological properties including microbial biomass carbon (MBC), total microbial population numbers, and enzyme activities. Butachlor was degraded faster in autumn rice soil (t of 10-13 days) than in winter rice soil (half-life of 16-18 days). The t of pretilachlor in winter rice was 12-16 days.

Global water scarcity is exacerbated by climate change, population growth, and water pollution. Over half of the world's population will be affected by water shortages for at least a month annually by 2050 due toa lack of clean water sources. Even though recycling wastewater helps meet the growing demand, new pollutants, including pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs), pose a health threat since conventional methods cannot remove them and their environmental monitoring regulations are yet in place.

Emerging micro-pollutants have rapidly contaminated the agro-ecosystem, posing serious challenges to a sustainable future. The vast majority of them have infiltrated the soil and damaged agricultural fields and crops after being released from industry. These pollutants and their transformed products are also transported in vast quantities which further exacerbate the damage.

Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) that generate bioelectricity from biodegradable waste have received considerable attention from biologists. Fungi play a significant role as both anodic and cathodic catalysts in MFCs. is a fungus with an ability to transfer electrons through mediators such as methylene blue (MB), neutral red (NR) or even without a mediator.

In developing countries, the use of antibiotics has helped to reduce the mortality rate by minimizing the deaths caused by pathogenic infections, but the costs of antibiotic contamination remain a major concern. Antibiotics are released into the environment, creating a complicated environmental problem. Antibiotics are used in human, livestock and agriculture, contributing to its escalation in the environment.

This review discusses the techniques available for detecting and inactivating of pathogens in municipal wastewater, landfill leachate, and solid waste. In view of the current COVID-19 pandemic, SARS-CoV-2 is being given special attention, with a thorough examination of all possible transmission pathways linked to the selected waste matrices. Despite the lack of works focused on landfill leachate, a systematic review method, based on cluster analysis, allows to analyze the available papers devoted to sewage sludge and wastewater, allowing to focalize the work on technologies able to detect and treat pathogens.

(-)-Epicatechin, a natural flavonoid reportedly has huge pharmacological properties. In this study the cestocide effect of (-)-epicatechin is demonstrated in Raillietina echinobothrida. Although the antiparasitic activity of (-)-epicatechin has been demonstrated against protozoa, helminths and ectoparasites, in the present study the cestocide activity of (-)-epicatechin is shown to be related to a decrease in nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activity and nitric oxide (NO) production.
