Unlabelled: This study was undertaken to investigate the effect of pre-B cell colony enhancing factor (PBEF) on Na and fluid transport in lung epithelial cells.
Methods: Type 1 and 2 cells were isolated from lung epithelium. After hypoxia reoxygenation treatment, the primary cell cultures were transfected with a plasmid over-expressing PBEF.
Although the standard ginkgo biloba extract EGb 761 exhibits antioxidative, anti-apoptotic, and anticancer properties, there is no research focusing on the chemopreventive effects of EGb 761 in colorectal cancer (CRC). The present study investigated whether EGb 761 could increase 5-fluorouracil (5FU) sensitivity in CRC and its potential mechanism. We found that combined EGb 761 and 5FU treatment significantly elevated the chemosensitivity of CRC cells to 5FU in 5FU-resistant (5FUR) CRC cells, whereas no obvious cytotoxicity of EGb 761 was observed in parental cells.

It is well-known that decreased levels of NK cells are found in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). However, the mechanism of deregulation of NK cells in SLE is largely unknown. In this study, expression of T-cell immunoreceptor with Ig and immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory domains (TIGIT) on NK cells was determined by flow cytometry and correlation with markers of autoimmune response, inflammation, disease activity and severity of SLE was further analyzed.

Purpose: In the present study, we examined both FOXM1 mRNA and protein expression by Real-time quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR) and Western blot and investigate the expression of the human FOXM1 by Immunohistochemistry (IHC), and identify their potential roles in prognosis for patients with osteosarcoma.
Methods: FOXM1 mRNA and protein expression levels were detected by RT-PCR and Western blot assays, respectively. Then, IHC was performed to analyze the association of FOXM1 expression in 83 osteosarcoma tissues with clinicopathological factors and survival of patients.
