Inflammatory mediators in tumor microenvironment influence cancer occurrence, growth and metastasis through complex signaling networks. Excessive inflammation is closely associated with elevated cancer risk and mortality, in part through inflammation-induced angiogenesis. Mechanistically, multiple tumor-associated inflammatory cells increase the release and accumulation of various inflammatory products in cancerous sites.

Macropinocytosis is a form of endocytosis which provides an effective way for non-selective uptakes of extracellular proteins, liquids, and particles. The endocytic process is initiated by the activation of the growth factors signaling pathways. After activation of the biochemical signal, the cell starts internalizing extracellular solutes and nutrients into the irregular endocytic vesicles, known as macropinosomes that deliver them into the lysosomes for degradation.

It was reported that the expression of RNA binding proteins (RBPs) in malignant tumors is dysregulated and is closely related to tumorigenesis. However, some studies have confirmed the role of RBPs in gastric cancer (GC). We obtained data on gastric cancer in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx), and identified RBPs that are dysregulated between gastric normal and cancer tissues.

Extracellular vesicles isolation from urine was severely interfered by polymeric Tamm-Harsefall protein due to its ability to entrap exosome. Studies had been reported to optimize the extraction of urine extracellular vesicles by using reducing agents, surfactants, salt precipitation or ultrafiltration, but rarely based on highly specific purification methods. We optimized the density gradient centrifugation method for the isolation of urinary small extracellular vesicles (sEV) and compared seven differential centrifugation protocols to obtain the high-yield and high-purity sEV isolation procedures.

The 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is still spreading rapidly around the world, and one cause of lethality for patients infected with 2019-nCoV is acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). ARDS is a severe syndrome of acute lung injury (ALI) that is predominantly triggered by inflammation and results in a sudden loss of, or damage to, kidney function. Emerging studies reveal that multiple transcription factor-associated signaling pathways are activated in the pathology of ALI/ARDS.

Brain tumors include those that originate within the brain (primary tumors) as well as those that arise from other cancers (metastatic tumors). The fragile nature of the brain poses a major challenge to access focal malignancies, which certainly limits both diagnostics and therapeutic approaches. This limitation has been alleviated with the advent of liquid biopsy technologies.

The sodium-water transport system is crucial for alveolar fluid clearance. The pulmonary edema caused by extracorporeal circulation is mainly due to increased alveolar capillary permeability and reduced fluid clearance. We previously demonstrated that pre-B-cell colony enhancing factor (PBEF) increases alveolar capillary permeability and inhibits the sodium-water transport system.
