CC chemokine ligand-2 (CCL2), a proinflammatory chemokine that mediates chemotaxis of multiple immune cells, plays a crucial role in the tumor microenvironment (TME) and promotes tumorigenesis and development. Recently, accumulating evidence has indicated that CCL2 contributes to the development of drug resistance to a broad spectrum of anticancer agents, including chemotherapy, hormone therapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy. It has been reported that CCL2 can reduce tumor sensitivity to drugs by inhibiting drug-induced apoptosis, antiangiogenesis, and antitumor immunity.

To investigate the feasibility of using a porcine fibrin sealant to wrap and remove kidney calculi fragments through an isolated porcine kidney model. In the isolated porcine kidney stone model (implanted with 100 mg, air dried, ≤1 mm human stone fragments, =6;implanted with 100 mg, air dried, ≤3 mm human stone fragments, =6), the ureteral soft mirror combined with the 12/14Fr UAS was used to test the effect of stone extraction using only two stone extraction methods: basket extraction (control group, ≤1 mm stone fragments, =3; ≤3 mm stone fragments, =3) and basket-sealant extraction (test group, ≤1 mm stone fragments, =3; ≤3 mm stone fragments, =3). Compare the stone removal rate and operation time of the two stone retrieval methods.

Protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor-type Q (PTPRQ), a member of the type III tyrosine phosphatase receptor (R3 PTPR) family, is composed of three domains, including 18 extracellular fibronectin type III (FN3) repeats, a transmembrane helix, and a cytoplasmic phosphotyrosine phosphatase (PTP) domain. PTPRQ was initially identified as a transcript upregulated in glomerular mesangial cells in a rat model of glomerulonephritis. Subsequently, studies found that PTPRQ has phosphotyrosine phosphatase and phosphatidylinositol phosphatase activities and can regulate cell proliferation, apoptosis, differentiation, and survival.

Gene transcription and cell metabolism are two fundamental biological processes that mutually regulate each other. Upregulated or altered expression of glucose metabolic genes in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis is a major driving force of enhanced aerobic glycolysis in tumor cells. Importantly, glycolytic and gluconeogenic enzymes in tumor cells acquire moonlighting functions and directly regulate gene expression by modulating chromatin or transcriptional complexes.

Advanced and recurrent ovarian cancer has a poor prognosis and is frequently resistant to numerous therapeutics; thus, safe and effective drugs are needed to combat this disease. Previous studies have demonstrated that triptolide (TPL) exhibits anticancer and sensitization effects against cisplatin (DDP)‑resistant ovarian cancer both and by inducing apoptosis; however, the involvement of autophagy induced by TPL in resistant ovarian carcinoma remains unclear. In the present study, the results revealed that TPL induced autophagy to facilitate SKOV3/DDP ovarian cancer cell death.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the major form of primary liver cancer and one of the most prevalent and life-threatening malignancies globally. One of the hallmarks in HCC is the sustained cell survival and proliferative signals, which are determined by the balance between oncogenes and tumor suppressors. Transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) is an effective growth inhibitor of epithelial cells including hepatocytes, through induction of cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, cellular senescence, or autophagy.

Paclitaxel is a potent antineoplastic agent, but poor solubility and resistance have limited its use. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are widely studied as drug carriers because they can be engineered to prevent drug insolubility, carry nucleic acid payloads for gene therapy, target specific tumor cell lines, modulate drug release and amplify photothermal therapy. Consequently, the conjugation of paclitaxel with AuNPs to improve antiproliferative and pro‑apoptotic potency may enable improved clinical outcomes.

Adipocyte is the most predominant cell type in the tumor microenvironment of breast cancer and plays a pivotal role in cancer progression, yet the underlying mechanisms and functional mediators remain elusive. We isolated primary preadipocytes from mammary fat pads of human breast cancer patients and generated mature adipocytes and cancer-associated adipocytes (CAAs) in vitro. The CAAs exhibited significantly different gene expression profiles as assessed by transcriptome sequencing.

Background: Monoclonal antibodies of anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) have been recommended as first-line therapy for patients with left-sided metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) with wild-type . The effect of tumour laterality on antivascular endothelial growth factor antibody and how to optimise targeted therapies for the right-sided cases remain controversial.
Patients And Methods: A comprehensive meta-analysis enrolling 16 first-line clinical trials was performed to evaluate the efficacy of chemotherapy alone and chemotherapy plus targeted therapies for patients with mCRC with right primary tumour site, and we validated the results in metastatic setting (14 trials containing 4306 patients with unresectable mCRC).

Heterotopic ossification (HO) is the aberrant formation of mature, lamellar bone in nonosseous tissue. Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP) is a rare and devastating genetic disorder that causes progressive HO in the ligaments, tendons, and muscles throughout the body. FOP is attributed to an autosomal mutation in activin receptor-like kinase 2 (ALK2), a bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) type I receptor.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the major causes of irreversible blindness among aging populations in developed countries and can be classified as dry or wet according to its progression. Wet AMD, which is characterized by angiogenesis on the choroidal membrane, is uncommonly seen but more severe. Controlling or completely inhibiting the factors that contribute to the progression of events that lead to angiogenesis may be an effective strategy for treating wet AMD.
