Objectives: Malnutrition is prevalent in geriatric patients and associated with poor prognosis. This study aimed to evaluate the incremental prognostic value of different nutritional assessment tools in patients (90 years and older) with multimorbidity in China.

Methods: Patients aged ≥90 years with multimorbidity from the Geriatric Research Center in Nanjing Jinling Hospital from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2018 were analyzed.

September 2023

Department of Clinical Nutrition, Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, Affiliated Hospital of Medical School, Nan-jing University, Nanjing, China. Email:

Background And Objectives: Lack of professional and accurate diagnosis of malnutrition led to a reduction in Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) payment and a decrease in Case-Mix Index (CMI). The aim of this study was to explore the effects of adding a proper nutritional diagnosis and modifying complication groups on DRG payment and CMI.

Methods And Study Design: Retrospective analysis was performed on patients ad-mitted to the hospital from January to June 2022 who had received a nutritional assessment.

Purpose: This study presents a novel approach to predict postoperative biochemical recurrence (BCR) in prostate cancer (PCa) patients which involves constructing a signature based on anoikis-related genes (ARGs).

Methods: In this study, we utilised data from TCGA-PARD and GEO databases to identify specific ARGs in prostate cancer. We established a signature of these ARGs using Cox regression analysis and evaluated their clinical predictive efficacy and immune-related status through various methods such as Kaplan-Meier survival analysis, subject work characteristics analysis, and CIBERSORT method.

Multistage nucleic acid amplification induced nano-aggregation for 3D hotspots-improved SERS detection of circulating miRNAs.

Circulating miRNAs in the blood can regulate disease development and thus indicate disease states via their various expression levels. For these reasons, circulating miRNAs constitute useful biomarkers, and an approach to the accurate detection of circulating miRNAs is attractive in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. However, methods for clinical detecting of circulating miRNA that take both sensitivity and practicality into account are still needed.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Ginseng is a valuable medicinal herb used in China for the prevention and treatment of cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and other diseases. As the main active ingredient of ginseng, ginsenoside has a wide range of pharmacological effects. Ginsenoside Rh2, a protopanaxadiol saponin from ginseng, exhibits anti-inflammatory and anticancer effects.

Ginsenoside Rg1 exerts a beneficial effect in many kidney diseases. But little work has been done to confirm whether ginsenoside Rg1 could also exert a protective effect on anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) glomerular nephritis (GN). We aimed to explore the role of ginsenoside Rg1 in attenuating anti-GBM GN in vitro and in vivo and investigate the mechanism under its action.

Physico-chemical characterization and source tracking of black carbon at a suburban site in Beijing.

J Environ Sci (China)

July 2015

Department of Environmental Nano-materials, Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100085, China. Electronic address:

Particles from ambient air and combustion sources including vehicle emission, coal combustion and biomass burning were collected and chemically pretreated with the purpose of obtaining isolated BC (black carbon) samples. TEM (transmission electron microscopy) results indicate that BC from combustion sources shows various patterns, and airborne BC appears spherical and about 50 nm in diameter with a homogeneous surface and turbostratic structure. The BET (Barrett-Emmett-Teller) results suggest that the surface areas of these BC particles fall in the range of 3-23 m2/g, with a total pore volume of 0.

The Flos Lonicerae-Fructus Forsythiae herb couple is the basic components of Chinese herbal preparations (Shuang-Huang-Lian tablet, Yin-Qiao-Jie-Du tablet and Fufang Qin-Lan oral liquid), and its pharmacological effects were significantly higher than that in Flos Lonicerae or Fructus Forsythiae, but the reasons remained unknown. In the present study, pattern recognition analysis (hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) and principal component analysis (PCA)) combined with UHPLC-ESI/LTQ-Orbitrap MS system were performed to study the chemical constitution difference between co-decoction and mixed decoction in the term of chemistry. Besides, the pharmacokinetics in vivo and intestinal absorption in vitro combined with pattern recognition analysis were used to reveal the discrepancy between herb couple and single herbs in the view of biology.

The current study aims to investigate the effect of chitosan derivatives on the intestinal absorption and bioavailabilities of forsythoside A (FTA) and Chlorogenic acid (CHA), the major active components in Flos Lonicerae-Fructus Forsythiae herb couple. Biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics properties of the two compounds have been characterized in vitro, in situ as well as in rats. Based on the identified biopharmaceutics characteristics of the two compounds, the effect of chitosan derivatives as an absorption enhancer on the intestinal absorption and pharmacokinetics of FTA and CHA in pure compound form as well as extract form were investigated in vitro, in situ and in vivo.

Department of Dermatology, First Affiliated Hospital of Nan Jing University of Traditional Chinise Medicine, Jiang Su Province, China

Fixed drug eruption (FDE) usually presents as a single oval to round violaceous patch after administration of the causative drug. We describe a case of FDE presenting with multiple annular erythematous lesions over dorsal aspects of both feet following the administration of phenobarbital. To the best of our knowledge, such an atypical demonstration had never been reported.

In the present paper, in-situ preparation of silver nanoparticles have been conducted in 3D network structure of BC membrane through liquid phase chemical deoxidization method. The characterization of products was investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), infrared spectroscopy (IR), energy dispersion spectrometry (SEM-EDS). The absorbing water capacity and preserving water capacity of substitutes and the antibacterial capacities of antibacterial agent-loaded artificial skin were tested.

Nanohydroxyapatite reinforced poly(vinyl alcohol) gel (nano-HA/PVA gel) composites has been proposed as an articular cartilage repair biomaterial. In this paper, nano-HA/PVA gel composites were prepared by in situ synthesis nano-HA particles in PVA solution and accompanied with freeze/thaw method. The influence of nano-HA content, PVA concentration, test frequency and freeze/thaw cycle times on the viscoelastic behavior of nano-HA/PVA gel composites were evaluated using dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA).
