The minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) for proximal metaphyseal-diaphyseal humeral fracture is an effective alternative treatment with satisfactory outcomes. In this study, we described the surgical techniques and clinical results using MIPO via a lateral approach and long PHILOS plate fixation in 23 patients. All fractures were successfully united within a mean union time of 13.

Purpose: Beta-blocker is a frequently used medication in cardiovascular diseases. However, long-term benefit of beta-blocker in patients with preserved left ventricular ejection function (LVEF) on major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) is uncertain.
Methods: The Cohort Of patients with high Risk for cardiovascular Events (CORE-Thailand) was a prospective study that enrolled Thai patients with high atherosclerotic risk including multiple atherosclerotic risk factors and established atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases.

From the restriction of access to primary percutaneous coronary intervention, about 46% of patients with ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (STE-ACS) received fibrinolytic therapy as a reperfusion strategy; streptokinase is frequently used in Thailand. Despite the guidelines recommending potent P2Y12 inhibitors among these patients, the data are limited, especially among patients with STE-ACS post streptokinase therapy. The study was proposed to describe factors for P2Y12 inhibitors selection and evaluate outcomes of pharmacoinvasively treated STE-ACS receiving ticagrelor compared with clopidogrel in Thailand.

Background: Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are widely recognized as valuable predictors of clinical outcomes in peritoneal dialysis (PD). Our study aimed to explore the connections between patient-reported constipation and clinical outcomes.
Methods: We assessed constipation in patients across 22 facilities participating in the Thailand Peritoneal Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (PDOPPS) from 2014 to 2017.

Background: Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) is one of the most commonly found nosocomial infections in critically ill patients. However, the appropriate treatment period for a specific group of critically ill patients with CRAB infection is currently being debated. Therefore, our study aimed to evaluate the optimal courses of therapy for critically ill patients with CRAB infection by comparing the outcomes of colistin therapy of short duration (<14 days) versus long duration (≥ 14 days).

Purpose: To determine changes in bone mineral density (BMD) and bone metabolism-related biomarkers among Thai adolescents with perinatally acquired HIV infection (PHIVA) at 3 years following completion of vitamin D and calcium (VitD/Cal) supplementation.
Methods: An observational follow-up study was conducted among PHIVA who received 48-week VitD/Cal supplementation (either high-dose [3,200 IU/1,200 mg daily] or standard-dose [400 IU/1,200 mg daily]). Lumbar spine BMD (LSBMD) was assessed by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has evolved quickly, with different variants of concern resulting in the need to offer continued protection through booster vaccinations. The duration of enhanced protection with booster doses against severe COVID-19 is still unclear. Understanding this is critical to recommendations on the frequency of future booster doses.

Motor branch of the ulnar nerve (MUN) injury during carpal tunnel surgery is rare and it should never be injured during carpal tunnel release (CTR). However, an iatrogenic injury of the MUN can cause catastrophic physical and mental suffering. The aim of our study is to understand the anatomy of the MUN in relation to carpal tunnel in order to prevent iatrogenic injury during CTR.

Objectives: First, to describe the antiretroviral therapy (ART) delivery models available in Thailand to understand differentiated service delivery for further service system optimization and expansion of best practices; second, to determine the client characteristics associated with model uptake.
Methods: Across-sectional assessment using secondary data was conducted to describe ART models implemented as routine services at four public hospitals in three major provinces with a high-HIV burden in Thailand. From April to October 2020, ART clients were screened consecutively according to the inclusion criteria: Thai, aged ≥18 years, and on ART for ≥6 months.

Introduction: In Thailand, where the HIV epidemic is concentrated among key populations (KPs), particularly men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender women (TGW), an HIV service delivery model tailored to KPs was piloted. This study evaluated the acceptability and retention of clients who accepted and declined the KP-led HIV treatment service.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted using secondary data from three community-based organizations (CBOs) and three hospitals in Thailand.

Background: The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has evolved quickly, with numerous waves of different variants of concern resulting in the need for countries to offer continued protection through booster vaccination. To ensure adequate vaccination coverage, Thailand has proactively adopted heterologous vaccination schedules. While randomised controlled trials have assessed homologous schedules in detail, limited data has been reported for heterologous vaccine effectiveness (VE).

Objectives: The COVID-19 pandemic has evolved quickly, with different variants of concern resulting in the need for countries to offer booster vaccinations. Although studies have assessed homologous schedules in detail, the effectiveness of heterologous booster vaccine schedules against severity and mortality with newer variants remains to be explored fully.
Methods: Utilizing a Hospital Information System for COVID-19 established in Chiang Mai, Thailand, we conducted a cohort study by linking patient-level data on laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases to the national immunization records, during delta-predominant and omicron-predominant periods.

Objective: Universal health coverage can decrease the magnitude of the individual patient's financial burden of chronic kidney disease (CKD), but the residual financial hardship from the patients' perspective has not been well-studied in low and middle-income countries (LMICs). This study aimed to evaluate the residual financial burden in patients with CKD stage 3 to dialysis in the "PD First Policy" under Universal Coverage Scheme (UCS) in Thailand.
Methods: This multicenter nationwide cross-sectional study in Thailand enrolled 1,224 patients with pre-dialysis CKD, hemodialysis (HD), and peritoneal dialysis (PD) covered by UCS and other health schemes for employees and civil servants.

Background: Due to the possibility of asymptomatic pneumonia in children with COVID-19 leading to overexposure to radiation and problems in limited-resource settings, we conducted a nationwide, multi-center study to determine the risk factors of pneumonia in children with COVID-19 in order to create a pediatric pneumonia predictive score, with score validation.
Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study done by chart review of all children aged 0-15 years admitted to 13 medical centers across Thailand during the study period. Univariate and multivariate analyses as well as backward and forward stepwise logistic regression were used to generate a final prediction model of the pneumonia score.

Ring chromosome 15, a rare genetic disease, is very rarely prenatally diagnosed. We present a unique case of fetal ring chromosome 15 with ultrasound findings at 32 weeks of gestation including congenital diaphragmatic hernia, hypoplasia of the aorta with persistent left SVC, growth restriction, clubfeet and scoliosis. We also performed an analytical literature review of prenatal sonographic findings of the disease.

Background: The acceptable fine particulate matter (PM) level in Thailand is double the recommendation of the World Health Organization. It is necessary to have an accurate measure of PM exposure and its association with health problems in vulnerable groups such as asthma exacerbation in Thai children to urge the Clean Air Act in Thailand, which is currently in the process of revision.
Objective: To study the association between PM exposure and asthma exacerbation in children living in Bangkok Metropolitan Region and Chiang Mai Province.
