: Rivaroxaban and dabigatran are commonly used for thromboembolic disease management in active cancer patients. However, limited research explores the impact of concurrent chemotherapy on the pharmacodynamics of direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC). The aim of our study was to evaluate the impact of combined chemotherapy with rivaroxaban and dabigatran on the pharmacodynamics in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).

Chest X-ray findings of COVID-19 pneumonia in children: Experiences in a multicenter study in Thailand.

Introduction: Although chest X-ray is commonly used to diagnose COVID-19 pneumonia, few studies have explored findings in pediatric patients. This study aimed to reveal chest X-ray characteristics in children with COVID-19 pneumonia and compare between non-severe and severe cases.

Methods: This multicenter, nationwide retrospective study included all children aged 0 to 15 years who were admitted to 13 medical facilities throughout Thailand with COVID-19 pneumonia between January 2020 and October 2021.

Treatment outcomes between cyclosporin and chemotherapy in adult subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma: a report from nation-wide Thai lymphoma study group registry.

Subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTCL) is a rare subtype of T-cell lymphomas with a characteristic feature of subcutaneous nodules associated with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). Treatment options for SPTCL are mainly chemotherapy (CMT) or immunosuppressive agents with selection currently dependent on physician decisions. Outcomes between the 2 treatment remedies have not yet been comprehensively compared.

Does Cannabis-based Medicine Improve Pain and Sleep Quality in Patients With Traumatic Brachial Plexus Injuries? A Triple-blind, Crossover, Randomized Controlled Trial.

Background: After traumatic brachial plexus injuries, despite treatment with appropriate medications, some patients experience uncontrollable pain, which can be devastating. Cannabis-based medicine is considered to have pain-relieving benefits in this situation, but the evidence is limited.

Questions/purposes: Is cannabis-based medicine effective compared with the placebo in (1) reducing pain (measured by the VAS for pain) and neuropathic pain (measured by the DN4 questionnaire), and (2) improving sleep quality (measured by the VAS for sleep quality) in patients with traumatic brachial plexus injury?

Methods: This prospective, triple-blinded (the researcher administering the substance, the patients, and the evaluator were all blinded to the substance used), two-period crossover, placebo-controlled, randomized controlled trial was conducted at a single center.

The Role of Early Hemoadsorption in Severe COVID-19 Treatment: A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial.

Introduction: Hemoadsorption, an extracorporeal apheresis technique, is reportedly used in severe COVID-19 patients. However, limited evidence from randomized clinical trials supports this practice.

Methods: In this single-center study, severe COVID-19 patients requiring ICU admission were randomly assigned (1:1) to receive HA-330 hemoadsorption in combination with standard treatment or standard therapy alone.

Electronic Cigarettes and Tobacco Product Cessation: A Survey of Healthcare Providers' Opinions on Safety and Recommendation.

: This study aimed to: (1) assess healthcare providers' opinions on e-cigarette safety and compare them across professions; (2) evaluate providers' recommendations for e-cigarettes as a tobacco product cessation tool and identify any associations with their safety perceptions. : A self-administered questionnaire was completed by 760 healthcare professionals (January-March 2020). The survey included eight opinions on e-cigarette safety with five Likert-scale answers and a question on recommending them for tobacco product cessation.

The D3 trial evaluates the efficacy and safety of DTG/3TC in children and adolescents and includes a nested pharmacokinetics(PK) substudy for paediatric drug licensing.

Methods: D3 is an ongoing open-label, phase III, 96-week non-inferiority randomised controlled trial(RCT) conducted in South Africa, Spain, Thailand, Uganda and the United Kingdom.

Incidences of newly diagnosed childhood diabetes and onset severity: a multicenter regional study in Thailand over two decades and during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Objectives: While global  incidence rates (IR) of childhood diabetes are increasing, there is a notable lack  of current information on the incidence of childhood-onset diabetes in Thailand. This study aims to illustrate the age-standardized IR and types of childhood diabetes using multicenter regional data in Northern Thailand from 2005 to 2022 and to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: Data on newly diagnosed childhood diabetes were retrospectively collected between 2005 and 2016 and prospectively recorded for all incident cases between 2016 and 2022.

High-Loading-Dose Colistin with Nebulized Administration for Carbapenem-Resistant Pneumonia in Critically Ill Patients: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

Carbapenem-resistant (CRAB) infections pose a serious threat, with high morbidity and mortality rates. This retrospective cohort study, conducted at Nakornping Hospital between January 2015 and October 2022, aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a high loading dose (LD) of colistin combined with nebulized colistin in critically ill patients with CRAB pneumonia. Of the 261 patients included, 95 received LD colistin, and 166 received LD colistin with nebulized colistin.

Background: Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) infections pose a significant threat to global health due to limited treatment options and high mortality rates. Colistin-based regimens have emerged as a primary treatment approach, but the effectiveness and mortality outcomes of colistin monotherapy versus colistin-fosfomycin combination therapy remain uncertain. This study aims to compare the effectiveness and mortality of colistin monotherapy and colistin-fosfomycin combination therapy for CRE infections.

Plasma aldosterone response to ACTH stimulation test for diagnosis of primary aldosteronism: a cross-sectional study.

Background: The diagnosis of primary aldosteronism (PA) requires screening and confirmation testing. The present study examined whether the 1 µg ACTH stimulation test for plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC) can accurately diagnose PA by bypassing the regular confirmatory steps of PA diagnosis.

Methods: A cross-sectional study with a total of 36 patients with an aldosterone-renin ratio (ARR) > 20 ng/dL per ng/m/hr were included.

Modified Mustardé and Superolateral Periosteal Flaps for Full-Thickness Defects of Medial and Central Lower Eyelid: A Case Series.

Background: Reconstructing full-thickness defects involving 50% to 75% of the horizontal length of the lower eyelid after medial and central full-thickness block resection can be challenging. As a disadvanatge, 1-stage reconstructions may require a free graft reconstruction of the posterior lamella. In addition, 2-stage reconstructions are associated with several complications, including erythema, and the eye must be temporarily closed after surgery.

In such cases, adjunctive therapies, such as milling the outer calvarial cortex and applying negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), can promote granulation tissue. Endothelial activation and stress index as a prognostic factor of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma: the report from the nationwide multi-center Thai Lymphoma Study Group.

Several prognostic models have been introduced to predict outcomes of patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Endothelial activation and stress index (EASIX) is a surrogate of endothelial dysfunction which has been shown to predict outcomes of patients with various hematologic malignancies. However, the prognostic implication of EASIX for DLBCL is limited and warrants exploration.
