Eu activated ZnSiO red phosphor synthesized by pyrolysis technique at 1000ºC for one hour is reported. Upon excitation by 394 nm and 464 nm, the phosphor displays a distinct red emission peaking around 614 nm, a characteristic of f-f electronic transitions involving Eu ions.Incorporating alkali metal ions such as Li, Na and K into ZnSiO:Eu phosphor led to a remarkable increase in photoluminescence (PL) intensity.

Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Jl. Ganesha No. 10, Bandung 46123, Indonesia.

The motivation for this research is that the emission spectra using directly pumped laser diodes have not yet been found. We want to explore the luminescence properties of a co-doped laser material utilizing a diode laser as an optical pump. The research method used standard melt-quench and was stimulated by a laser diode (808 and 980 nm).

Contextual fear conditioning (CFC) is mediated by a neural circuit that includes the hippocampus, prefrontal cortex, and amygdala, but the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying the regulation of CFC by neuromodulators remain unclear. Dopamine D1-like receptors (D1Rs) in this circuit regulate CFC and local synaptic plasticity, which is facilitated by synchronized oscillations between these areas. In rats, we determined the effects of systemic D1R blockade on CFC and oscillatory synchrony between dorsal hippocampus (DH), prelimbic (PL) cortex, basolateral amygdala (BLA), and ventral hippocampus (VH), which sends hippocampal projections to PL and BLA.

Heliyon

September 2023

Center of Excellence in Glass Technology and Materials Science (CEGM), Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University, Nakhon Pathom, Thailand.

In the current study, the bismuth oxide (BiO) content was inter-substituted with gadolinium oxide (GdO) in sodium borate glass. Glass sample density and molar volume values show a reverse trend. The optical transparent radiation shielding glasses are more commonly used materials in hospitals or any hazardous radiation working environments, the glasses used in this work are more emphasized on their superior transmittance and acceptable for shielding materials for commercial purposes.

Noninvasive NMR/MRS Metabolic Parameters to Evaluate Metabolic Syndrome in Rats.

Diagnostics (Basel)

July 2022

Center of Radiation Research and Medical Imaging, Department of Radiologic Technology, Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, Chiang Mai University, Chiang Mai 50200, Thailand.

Article Synopsis
  • Ectopic fat deposition linked to a high-fat diet (HFD) is associated with metabolic syndrome but lacks noninvasive evaluation tools for tracking related abnormalities.
  • The study used male Wistar rats to compare the effects of a normal diet and HFD over 16 weeks, utilizing techniques like MRI and biochemical analysis to assess fat distribution and metabolite profiles.
  • Results indicated that visceral fat correlated strongly with blood cholesterol, while liver fat content showed a connection with certain metabolites, identifying five potential biomarkers to differentiate between HFD and normal diets, confirming the negative impact of long-term HFD on metabolism.

The effect of CeF concentration and γ-irradiation on the physical, optical and luminescence properties of GdO-BO-CeF glasses were studied in this work. Before irradiation, the addition of CeF in glass degraded the network connectivity observed from FTIR and possibly created the non-bridging oxygen (NBO) in glass structure. This NBO caused the reduction of Ce/Ce ratio in XANES, the red-shift in transmission spectra and the raise of refractive index with addition of CeF content.

Four yeast strains, representing one genus and two novel anamorphic yeast species, were isolated from pineapple leaves collected in Thailand. Analysis of the sequences of the D1/D2 domains of the large subunit (LSU) rRNA gene and the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions showed the two strains (DMKU-PAL186 and DMKU-PAL178) were closely related to the type strains of the and species, but with high nucleotide divergence. Two strains (DMKU-PAL39 and DMKU-PAL18) were found to be closely related to the type strains of , but with eight nucleotide substitutions in the D1/D2 domains and 26 nucleotide substitutions in the ITS regions.

Life (Basel)

July 2021

Center of Radiation Research and Medical Imaging, Department of Radiologic Technology, Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, Chiang Mai University, Chiang Mai 50200, Thailand.

Article Synopsis
  • Young adulthood is seen as a critical period for weight gain, with increasing cases of metabolic syndrome among this age group.
  • Researchers studied 60 young adults (ages 18-26) using MRI to measure different types of abdominal fat and found significant correlations between abdominal fat and BMI, as well as waist circumference.
  • The study suggests that BMI and waist circumference can effectively assess fat levels and help identify strategies to reduce health risks related to metabolic disorders in young adults.
