One year following bladder cancer surgery, a 65-year-old man had computed tomography (CT) that revealed bilateral pulmonary nodules. Pulmonary wedge resections were performed after the nodules were found to grow in follow-up. Unusually, we found that these two lesions were not homologous, nor were they metastases from prior bladder cancer, and therefore, synchronous double primary lung cancer (sDPLC) was diagnosed.

Aims: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) increase mortality risk from coronavirus infection (COVID-19). There are also concerns that the pandemic has affected supply and demand of acute cardiovascular care. We estimated excess mortality in specific CVDs, both 'direct', through infection, and 'indirect', through changes in healthcare.

Aims/introduction: Hypertension is one of the most significant risk factors for diabetes. The present study aimed to investigate the associations of lipid profiles, including the ratio of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)-to-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and triglyceride (TG) levels, as well as their interactions, with type 2 diabetes in hypertensive patients.
Materials And Methods: Hypertensive patients without a history of diabetes and hypolipidemic agents were enrolled continuously at the Hypertension Clinic, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University (Shanghai, China) from 2014 to 2016.

Berberine was reported to protect against the intestinal injury and improve the survival rate in sepsis, and glutamine deficiency was considered to be correlated with mortality in sepsis. We found that berberine pretreatment ameliorated lipopolysaccharide-induced direct intestinal injury and mucosal hypoplasia and attenuated impairments of intestinal glutamine transport and glutaminase activity, B(0)AT1 mRNA and protein expressions, and glutaminase protein expression. These findings showed the first time that berberine pretreatment could improve intestinal recovery and attenuate the impairment of glutamine transport and glutaminase activity in rat sepsis.

Polar organic compounds and elements were quantified in PM(10) aerosols collected in urban and rural areas of Baoji, an inland city of China, during winter and spring 2008. Concentrations of biomass burning markers and high molecular weight n-alkanoic acids (HMW, >C(22:0)) were heavily increased in winter. In contrast, sugars presented in higher levels in the spring, among which sucrose was the most abundant with an average of 219ngm(-3) in winter and 473ngm(-3) in spring respectively.

Objective: To build nano-biomimetic tissue engineered blood vessel (NBTEBV) with nanotopology by using electrospinning (ELSP) technology.
Methods: Cony vascular endothelial cell (VEC) on tubiform tooting in vitro was cultured. NBTEBV was built by use of multi-row nozzle with the suspension of cony vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) and mimic ECM (MECM) solution.

Effects of stimulating the cerebellar interpositus nucleus (IN) on the neuronal activity of lateral hypothalamic area (LHA) were first observed in the cat. The results showed that (1) IN stimulation could elicit inhibitory, excitatory, inhibitory-excitatory and excitatory-inhibitory responses from LHA neurones, with a majority of inhibitory responses (46.9%); (2) the responsive latencies of LHA neurones to IN stimulation ranged from 5 to 45 ms, while most (83.
