Extrusion of debris with and without intentional foraminal enlargement - A systematic review and meta-analysis.

This systematic review and meta-analysis was sought to assess whether intentional foraminal enlargement (IFE) is responsible for extrusion of a larger quantity of debris from extracted human teeth with fully formed apexes. Following the recommendations of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis - PRISMA, electronic and manual searches were performed to identify studies that evaluated the extrusion of debris, comparing different apical limits of instrumentation (with/without IFE). The quality of the studies selected was evaluated, and statistical analysis was conducted.

Tetra ostial coronary arterial anatomy-A rare pattern in transposition.

Background: Meticulous transfer of coronary arteries is of crucial importance in transposition and determines the success of the switch procedure. This report describes a coronary arterial anatomy consisting of four separate ostia from the two facing sinuses in a 6-month-old infant presenting with transposition and ventricular septal defect.

Conclusion: Being a rare coronary arterial pattern not described in previous coding systems, the surgeon would do well to be aware of this possibility while performing the switch procedure.

Formulation, Evaluation, and Clinical Assessment of Novel Solid Lipid Microparticles of Tetracycline Hydrochloride for the Treatment of Periodontitis.

The novel solvent-free process to formulate long-acting microparticles of tetracycline hydrochloride (TH) using hot melt extrusion granulation process coupled with size reduction using comil for the treatment of periodontitis was investigated using hydrogenated castor oil (HCO) as hydrophobic matrix former. The microparticles were characterized for micromeritics, drug diffusion, SEM studies, and stability analysis by DSC, FTIR, and proton NMR. Xanthan gum gel was used as delivery vehicles to administer microparticles inside periodontal pockets.

Objective: This systematic review assessed the radiographic extent of maxillofacial Gorham's disease and its impact on recurrence.

Study Design: PubMed and Cochrane databases were searched. The key words were (Gorham Disease OR Vanishing Bone Disease OR Gorham Stout Syndrome) AND (Jaw OR Maxilla OR Mandible OR Maxillofacial).

The Indian Network of Drug-Induced Liver Injury: Etiology, Clinical Features, Outcome and Prognostic Markers in 1288 Patients.

Background: Etiology of and outcomes following idiosyncratic drug-induced liver injury (DILI) vary geographically. We conducted a prospective study of DILI in India, from 2013 to 2018 and summarize the causes, clinical features, outcomes and predictors of mortality.

Methods: We enrolled patients with DILI using international DILI expert working group criteria and Roussel Uclaf causality assessment method.

A Rare Case of Osteoclast-poor Osteopetrosis (RANKL Mutation) with Recurrent Osteomyelitis of Mandible: A Case Report.

Unlabelled: Osteopetrosis (OP) is a group of rare genetic bone disorders. Osteoclast-poor form of osteopetrosis is much rarer in humans and represents a small percentage of the total cases of autosomal recessive osteopetrosis presenting with impaired bone remodeling due to defective osteoclastic activity and is characterized by distinctive increase in bone density and high bone fragility. Reduction in marrow spaces with decreased vasculature to the bone owing to increased bone mass makes the bones vulnerable for varied infections resulting in osteomyelitis.

Introduction: Trans-perineal urethroplasty is the preferred treatment for distraction urethral injuries in adults. However, management of such injuries in children is challenging because of functional implications in a growing child. Purpose: This study was conducted to establish age- and sex-specific reference standards for pterygoid hamulus (PH) dimensions using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Materials And Methods: CBCT scans of 1,000 patients (493 males and 507 females) were retrospectively assessed in coronal sections for length and width measurements of the PH by 3 investigators. The study data were divided into 3 age groups (group 1: <20 years, group 2: 20-50 years, group 3: >50 years).

Frequency of Effector Memory Cells Expressing Integrin αβ Is Associated With TGF-β1 Levels in Therapy Naïve HIV Infected Women With Low CD4 T Cell Count.

Integrin αβ expressing CD4 T cells are preferred targets for HIV infection and are thought to be predictors of disease progression. Concurrent analysis of integrin αβ expressing innate and adaptive immune cells was carried out in antiretroviral (ART) therapy naïve HIV infected women in order to determine its contribution to HIV induced immune dysfunction. Our results demonstrate a HIV infection associated decrease in the frequency of integrin αβ expressing endocervical T cells along with an increase in the frequency of integrin αβ expressing peripheral monocytes and central memory CD4 T cells, which are considered to be viral reservoirs.

Introduction: The purpose of the study is to assess the vertical and horizontal relationship between the roots of maxillary posterior teeth and neighboring structures like the floor of the maxillary sinus and cortical plates using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Method And Materials: 100 CBCT scans of the patients from the Indian population were analyzed. Vertical and horizontal relationship between the roots of maxillary posterior teeth and the floor of the maxillary sinus was divided into 4 types and 3 types, respectively.

The Medical Concrete Cancer of the Lung: A Unique Case Report.

A 53-year-old 10 pack year smoker and concrete worker for 12 years presented to us with a lung mass proven to be small cell lung cancer on lung biopsy. An industrial terminology of concrete cancer already exists defining the wear and tear in concrete due to various interactions. The interactions of concrete and smoke on lung, predisposed and increased the risk of lung cancer probably as an additive effect which we label as the medical concrete cancer of the lung.

POU1F1 mutations in combined pituitary hormone deficiency: differing spectrum of mutations in a Western-Indian cohort and systematic analysis of world literature.

Context: POU1F1 mutations are prevalent in Indian CPHD cohorts. Genotype-phenotype correlation is not well-studied.

An analysis of an educational method to improve the shade-matching ability of dental students.

Statement Of Problem: The predoctoral dental curriculum includes didactic lectures, demonstrations, and training on shade-matching techniques and protocols. However, a significant percentage of esthetic failures are still observed clinically. An assessment is required to determine whether reevaluation and modification of this training protocol would help future dental practitioners better perceive and communicate the dental shade.
