Aim: Parenting styles are determinants of psychosocial maladjustment in the subsequent generation. Modifiable factors that positively impact intergenerational transmission should be identified. Thus, this study investigated the mediating effects of adult attachment on the transmission of child-rearing styles and the combined impact of fathers' and mothers' styles on their offspring's parenting.

A case of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy following COVID-19 vaccine.

We report a 44-year-old woman who presented with bilateral weakness of the hands and distal paresthesia of the arms on the next day of the second COVID-19 vaccine, and gradually progressed ascending weakness of the arms and legs, and sensory ataxia beyond 2 months. She was diagnosed as a chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) following COVID-19 vaccine on the basis of clinical and electrophysiological findings. This is a first case diagnosed as a CIDP following COVID-19 vaccine alone.

Bisphosphonate Use May Reduce the Risk of Urolithiasis in Astronauts on Long-Term Spaceflights.

Long-duration spaceflight is associated with an increased risk of urolithiasis, and the pain caused by urinary calculi could result in loss of human performance and mission objectives. The present study investigated the risk of urolithiasis in astronauts during 6 months on the International Space Station, and evaluated whether the suppression of bone resorption by the bisphosphonate, alendronate (ALN), can reduce the risk. A total of 17 astronauts were included into the analysis: exercise using the advanced resistive exercise device (ARED) plus weekly oral 70 mg alendronate (ARED+ALN group,  = 7) was compared to resistive exercise alone (ARED group,  = 10).

The Japanese Clinical Practice Guidelines for Management of Sepsis and Septic Shock 2020 (J-SSCG 2020), a Japanese-specific set of clinical practice guidelines for sepsis and septic shock created as revised from J-SSCG 2016 jointly by the Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine and the Japanese Association for Acute Medicine, was first released in September 2020 and published in February 2021. An English-language version of these guidelines was created based on the contents of the original Japanese-language version. The purpose of this guideline is to assist medical staff in making appropriate decisions to improve the prognosis of patients undergoing treatment for sepsis and septic shock.

We investigated the incidence of cardiotoxicity, its risk factors, and the clinical course of cardiac function in patients with malignant lymphoma (ML) who received a cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisolone (CHOP) regimen. Among all ML patients who received a CHOP regimen with or without rituximab from January 2008 to December 2017 in Nagoya City University hospital, 229 patients who underwent both baseline and follow-up echocardiography and had baseline left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) ≥50% were analyzed, retrospectively.
