Various environmental factors affecting the human microbiota may lead to gut microbial imbalance and to the development of pathologies. Alterations of gut microbiota have been firmly implicated in digestive diseases such as hepatic encephalopathy, irritable bowel syndrome and diverticular disease. However, while these three conditions may all be related to dysfunction of the gut-liver-brain axis, the precise pathophysiology appears to differ somewhat for each.

The present letter to the editor is related to the work entitled "Large leiomyoma of lower esophagus diagnosed by endoscopic ultrasonography-fine needle aspiration: A case report." Although endoscopic ultrasonography seems necessary in a suspected leiomyoma of the esophagus, the performance of biopsies fine needle aspiration is controversial as it increases the risk of complications such as bleeding, infection, and intraoperative perforations. Laparoscopy is the best treatment strategy for small tumors.

Quantile causality and dependence between renewable energy consumption, WTI prices, and CO emissions: new evidence from the USA.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

April 2023

Department of Business Administration, College of Business Administration, Majmaah University, Al-Majmaah, 11952, Saudi Arabia.

This study investigates the Granger causal interplays between renewable energy consumption, WTI crude oil prices, and CO emissions in the USA using monthly data between January 1986 and May 2022. The study applies quantile-based techniques, namely, the quantile unit root test developed by Galvao (2009), the quantile cointegration test proposed by Xiao (2009), and the novel Granger causality-in-quantiles test suggested by Troster (2018). The results suggest that the series display a unit root across different quantiles and that the cointegration relationships exhibit heterogeneous behavior across quantiles.
