Objectives: To characterize two experimental zirconia bilayer materials compared to their monolithic controls, before and after hydrothermal aging.
Methods: Commercial zirconia powders were utilized to fabricate two bilayer materials: 3Y-TZP+ 5Y-PSZ (3Y+5Y/BI) and 4Y-PSZ+ 5Y-PSZ (4Y+5Y/BI), alongside control groups 3Y-TZP (3Y/C), 4Y-PSZ (4Y/C), and 5Y-PSZ (5Y/C). Compacted specimens were sintered (1550 °C- 2 h, 3 °C/min), and half of them underwent hydrothermal aging (134 °C-20h, 2.

Large language models (LLMs) are rapidly being adopted in healthcare, necessitating standardized reporting guidelines. We present transparent reporting of a multivariable model for individual prognosis or diagnosis (TRIPOD)-LLM, an extension of the TRIPOD + artificial intelligence statement, addressing the unique challenges of LLMs in biomedical applications. TRIPOD-LLM provides a comprehensive checklist of 19 main items and 50 subitems, covering key aspects from title to discussion.

Objectives To assess the influence of cigarette smoke (CS) on the color and surface roughness of 3D printed, milled, and traditionally fabricated provisional crown and bridge (PC&B) materials. Materials and methods 112 disc-shaped samples were made employing four techniques and materials (28 per group) to fabricate PC&B prostheses. Specimens were fabricated using standard protocols, such as 3D printing, milling, conventional bis-acrylic resin, and traditional autopolymerizing polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) resin.

Background & Aims: Mood disorders and disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI) are highly prevalent, commonly comorbid, and lack fully effective therapies. Although selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are first-line pharmacological treatments for these disorders, they may impart adverse effects, including anxiety, anhedonia, dysmotility, and, in children exposed in utero, an increased risk of cognitive, mood, and gastrointestinal disorders. SSRIs act systemically to block the serotonin reuptake transporter and enhance serotonergic signaling in the brain, intestinal epithelium, and enteric neurons.

Objectives: Periapical lesions are not always evident on radiographic scans. Sometimes, asymptomatic or initial periapical lesions on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) could be missed by inexperienced dentists, especially when the scan has a large field of view and is not for endodontic treatment purposes. Previously, numerous algorithms have been introduced to assist radiographic assessment and diagnosis in the field of endodontics.

Introduction: Recent new advances in myoclonus characterization and etiology justify an update of the 40-year-old respected classification of myoclonus proposed by Marsden, Hallett, and Fahn. New advances include genetic studies and clinical neurophysiology characterization.
Methods: The IAPRD appointed an expert panel to develop a new myoclonus classification.

Background: Oral cancer causes intense pain at the primary site, and such pain can impair oral functions. However, the underlying mechanisms for oral cancer pain are still not fully understood. In the present study, it is investigated whether programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) is involved in the development of oral cancer pain.

Preclinical data suggest that gestational exposure to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) alter gut innervation, and delays colonic motility. In this study we investigated associations between gestational SSRI exposure and offspring disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI). Using population-based registries, we included all single-birth Danish children born 1997-2015 with follow-up until outcome occurrence, age 15 years, death, emigration, or December 2018.

Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the levels of interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA), receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL), osteoprotegerin (OPG), interleukin-1β, osteopontin, and tissue necrotizing factor-α in teeth with external invasive resorption (EIR) in comparison to the contralateral healthy tooth of the same patient.
Methods: Twenty-nine patients with at least one tooth with EIR and a healthy tooth on the contralateral side (33 paired teeth) were included. Data on patient demographics and medical and dental history were collected.

This study explores the novel application of pyronin Y for fluorescently labeling extracellular matrices (ECMs) and gelatin cryogels, providing a simple and reliable method for laser scanning confocal microscopy. Pyronin Y exhibited remarkable staining ability of the porous structures of gelatin cryogels, indicating its potential as a reliable tool for evaluating such biomaterials. Confocal imaging of pyronin Y-stained cryogels produced high signal-to-noise ratio images suitable for quantifying pores using Fiji/Image J.

The unique screw-shape design and microstructure of implants pose a challenge for mechanical debridement in removing biofilms. Biofilms exhibit increased resistance to antimicrobials relative to single planktonic cells, emphasizing the need for effective biofilm removal during periodontal therapy for peri-implantitis treatment. To tackle this issue, our team evaluated the effectiveness of low-temperature plasma (LTP) for disinfecting titanium discs contaminated with multispecies biofilms associated with peri-implantitis, specifically focusing on biofilms matured for 14 and 21 days as well as biofilms that had formed on Straumann Ti-SLA implants for 21 days.

Several mouse lines with congenital growth hormone (GH)/insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) axis disruption have shown improved health and extended lifespan. The current study investigated how inactivating this axis, specifically during aging, impacts the healthspan. We used a tamoxifen-inducible global GH receptor (GHR) knockout mouse model starting at 12 months and followed the mice until 24 months of age (iGHRKO mice).

Fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) is a bone-secreted protein widely recognized as a critical regulator of skeletal and mineral metabolism. However, little is known about the nonskeletal production of FGF23 and its role in tissues other than bone. Growing evidence indicates that circulating FGF23 levels rise with a high-fat diet (HFD) and they are positively correlated with body mass index (BMI) in humans.
