Introduction And Hypothesis: Robotics-assisted laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy (RALSH) with concomitant apical robotics-assisted POP repair provides advantages of minimally invasive procedures; however specimen removal without intraperitoneal spillage of potential pathology remains challenging. The primary aim of our study is to determine the factors affecting contained manual morcellation (CMM) of specimens during RALSH for POP surgery. The secondary aim of the study is to report complications associated with CMM and on specimen pathology.

Cryptococcus neoformans () is an opportunistic, encapsulated, yeast-like fungus that causes severe meningoencephalitis, especially in countries with high HIV prevalence. In addition to its well-known polysaccharide capsule, has other virulence factors such as phospholipases, a heterogeneous group of enzymes that hydrolyze ester linkages in glycerophospholipids. Phospholipase B (PLB1) has been demonstrated to play a key role in pathogenicity.

Catheter-related sheath (CRS) formation secondary to chronic indwelling central venous catheters (CVC) is a well-documented complication. When these fibrin sheaths calcify, they can form a "cast" surrounding the catheter. Upon removal of the CVC, a rare complication can occur where the calcified sheath remains in situ leaving behind an intraluminal catheter-shaped cast.

Introduction Achilles tendon ruptures (ATRs) have classically been thought to affect the middle-aged "weekend warrior" participating in basketball, volleyball, soccer, or any ground sport; however, with a more active elderly population, these tears are becoming more common in older patients. We sought to examine the role of demographics, tear location, and operative technique for acute Achilles tendon ruptures treated surgically. Methods A retrospective query was performed to identify patients who presented with Achilles tendon ruptures.

Objective: Although several material options, both natural and synthetic, are available for cranioplasty, the rate of implant-related complications has remained high. A relatively novel, synthetic hydroxyapatite-titanium implant, which combines biocompatibility with biomechanical resilience, has been reported to reduce tissue inflammation, infection, and explantation rates, while delivering superior cosmetic results. However, despite such promising preliminary reports, clinical data supporting its use have remained scarce.

Evaluation of a pregnant patient presenting with acute abdominal pain can be challenging to accurately diagnose for a variety of reasons, and particularly late in pregnancy. Noncontrast MR remains a safe and accurate diagnostic imaging modality for the pregnant patient presenting with acute abdominal pain, following often an initially inconclusive ultrasound examination, and can be used in most settings to avoid the ionizing radiation exposure of a computed tomography scan. Pathologic processes discussed in this article include some of the more common gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, genitourinary, and gynecologic causes of abdominal pain occurring in pregnancy, as well as traumatic injuries.
