A Patient Interview-Based Needs Assessment and Evaluation of Experiences with Periviable Pregnancies.

Given the complex ethical and emotional nature of births during the periviable period for both health care providers and families, this investigation sought to identify strategies for improved counseling of pregnant patients facing preterm birth at the cusp of viability at a tertiary care center in Hawai'i. As part of a larger quality improvement project on periviability counseling, 10 patients were interviewed during either individual or small focus groups using a progression of hypothetical scenarios. Interviews were analyzed independently by 3 investigators to identify themes of patient experience and potential areas for improvement when counseling patients who are carrying periviable pregnancies.

Impact of extramedullary multiple myeloma on outcomes with idecabtagene vicleucel.

NYC Health + Hospitals, the largest municipal public health care system in the United States, is a national pioneer in incorporating lifestyle medicine systemwide.

Background/objective: Phthalates and phthalate replacements are used in multiple everyday products, making many of them bioavailable to children. Experimental studies suggest that phthalates and their replacements may be obesogenic, however, epidemiologic studies remain inconsistent. Therefore, our objective was to examine the association between phthalates, phthalate replacements and childhood adiposity/obesity markers in children.

Barriers to Accessing Antiretroviral Treatment Among Key Populations in Southwest Nigeria.

Background In Nigeria, similar to most of sub-Saharan Africa, the fight against HIV/AIDS is hampered by various barriers. Particularly, key populations (KP) face unique challenges in accessing antiretroviral therapy (ART), attributed to health systems, patient-related, and community-related factors. This study aims to explore these barriers among KP in Nigeria, enhancing understanding to improve ART access and outcomes, thereby contributing to global efforts to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Child Opportunity Index Mobility, Recurrent Wheezing, and Asthma in Early Childhood: A Population-Based Prospective Cohort Study.

We prospectively examined associations between mobility in neighborhood opportunity and early childhood recurrent wheezing/asthma. Downward mobility was associated with developing asthma, but not recurrent wheezing, though associations were attenuated after adjusting for family-level socioeconomic status. Elucidating how neighborhoods impact asthma may inform asthma equity initiatives in early childhood.

Remdesivir (RDV) is a broad-spectrum nucleotide analog prodrug approved for the treatment of COVID-19 in hospitalized and non-hospitalized patients with clinical benefit demonstrated in multiple Phase 3 trials. Here we present SARS-CoV-2 resistance analyses from the Phase 3 SIMPLE clinical studies evaluating RDV in hospitalized participants with severe or moderate COVID-19 disease.
