Background: New digital learning environments have transformed medical education and training, allowing students and teachers to engage in synchronous, real-time interactions and asynchronous learning activities online. Despite extensive research on the role of digital technologies in education, understanding the interplay between digital technology, work, and learning, especially in complex fields like healthcare, remains a challenge.
Objective: The objective of this study is to examine resident physicians' perceptions and experiences of using a digital learning environment as part of their specialist medical training.

Background And Objective: Our objective was to assess whether GeneXpert BC can be used as a triage test to exclude urinary bladder cancer (UBC) for patients with macroscopic hematuria.
Methods: We conducted a prospective study that include consecutive patients being evaluated for macroscopic hematuria between September 2020 and December 2022. Before cystoscopy, study participants provided a voided urine sample for GeneXpert BC analysis according to a case-control design with an emphasis on UBC detection.

Aims: Life expectancy is reduced in people with obesity and is further reduced in those with concomitant type 2 diabetes. The aim of the study was to assess whether a 2-year delay in diabetes development influences life expectancy in people with obesity.
Materials And Methods: Participants from the Swedish Obese Subjects study without diabetes at baseline and known diabetes status at the 2-year follow-up were included: bariatric surgery (n = 1471) and usual obesity care (n = 1392).

Background: The estimated prognos of a patient might influence the expected benefit/risk ratio of different interventions. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS) score as an independent predictor of short-, mid- and long-term mortality in critically ill older adults (aged ≥ 70) admitted to the emergency department (ED).
Methods: This is a retrospective, single-center, observational study, involving critically ill older adults, recruited consecutively in an ED.

Background: Biocomposite screws reportedly provide equivalent graft fixation in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) to metallic screws while simplifying subsequent imaging and surgery. One purported complication of biocomposite screws is paradoxical tunnel widening. Previous studies on beta-tricalcium phosphate screws have only reported outcomes at short- and midterm follow-up.

Objectives: The inclusion of rock-climbing in the Olympic Games has increased participation in the sport and attention to athletes' health. In sports where the importance of low body weight is considerate, there is an increased risk of developing eating disorders (EDs). There is sparse research on EDs among rock-climbers.

Background And Purpose: Epidemiological studies show the prevalence of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adolescents is around 5 %. There is strong evidence for psychosocial interventions and medication for treatment of ADHD core symptoms, but these alone do not always reach a satisfactory outcome. The aim of this small-scale study was to evaluate the impact of tactile massage on ADHD core symptoms in adolescents in a clinical setting.

Objective: The objective of this study was to study the recovery from, and incidence of, work-restricting musculoskeletal pain after bariatric surgery compared with usual obesity care.
Methods: Pain in different body regions was monitored using questionnaires in the nonrandomized, prospective, controlled Swedish Obese Subjects (SOS) study, which included 2007 participants treated with bariatric surgery and a matched control group of 2040 participants receiving usual obesity care at primary health care centers. Self-reported pain in the neck and shoulders, back, hips, knees, and ankles was captured from questionnaires administered at baseline and after 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 15, and 20 years.

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic Th2-mediated inflammatory disease of the esophagus driven by dietary or inhalant allergens which if left untreated, leads to fibrosis and poor esophageal function. Although the inflammation in the esophagus is dominated by eosinophils, there are also elevated levels of T and B cells. Blood samples from ten patients with EoE before and after treatment with orodispersible budesonide and 10 healthy controls were compared using cytometry by time-of-flight.

Objective: To compare long-term outcomes after laparoscopic lavage with resection surgery for perforated diverticulitis, Hinchey grade III as practiced in Sweden for 3 years.
Background: Laparoscopic lavage has been studied in 3 randomized controlled trials. Long-term results indicate that additional surgery and a remaining stoma are less common after lavage compared with resection, but data from routine care and larger cohorts are needed to get a more complete picture.

Background: People with obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D) have reduced life expectancy, partly explained by increased risk of cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Here, we examined whether 2-year diabetes remission after bariatric surgery or usual care is associated with long-term mortality.
Materials And Methods: This report includes 586 participants with obesity and concomitant T2D from the prospective Swedish Obese Subjects (SOS) cohort study; 338 underwent bariatric surgery and 248 received usual obesity care.

Purpose: To analyse the 52,199 patients in the Swedish Knee Ligament Register (SKLR) preoperatively, and the patients reaching 5- and 10-year follow-ups who underwent anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR), revision ACLR and ACLR on the contralateral side (CACLR). The main hypothesis was that patients undergoing revision ACLR would have worse patient-reported outcome measurements (PROMs) than the primary ACLR group at 10 years and that smoking and concomitant injuries would result in poorer outcomes for all groups.
Methods: Data from 2005 to 2021 were extracted from the SKLR.

Introduction: To assess the prevalence of diabetic retinopathy (DR) in persons with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes (T2D) to understand the potential need for intensified screening for early detection of T2D.
Research Design And Methods: Individuals from the Swedish National Diabetes Registry with a retinal photo <2 years after diagnosis of T2D were included. The proportion of patients with retinopathy (simplex or worse) was assessed.
