Based on analytical description of isotope production by bremsstrahlung (X-ray) radiation, an algorithm is proposed for calculating the optimal dimensions of a cylindrical target of given mass positioned at a given distance from a bremsstrahlung converter to ensure the maximum yield of the isotope product. The expressions are derived for the total activity and its distribution along the target axis. A technique of γ-spectrometric measuring the activity of a thick production target is proposed.

Based on a developed analytical model, a method is proposed for measuring the photonuclear cross section averaged over bremsstrahlung flux without application of additional target-monitor of photon flux. The method involves the use of a thin isotopic target, that completely overlaps the photon beam (a photonuclear converter), as well as an algorithm for processing the data on the yield of a reaction under study in such a target. The novel technique was validated on the reactions Mo(γ,n)Mo and Ni(γ,n)Ni in the range of photon end-point energy of 40.

Detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) is one of the most widely used tools for the detection of long-range dependence in time series. Although DFA has found many interesting applications and has been shown to be one of the best performing detrending methods, its probabilistic foundations are still unclear. In this paper, we study probabilistic properties of DFA for Gaussian processes.

We present a study of the diffusion enhancement of underdamped Brownian particles in a one-dimensional symmetric space-periodic potential due to external symmetric time-periodic driving with zero mean. We show that the diffusivity can be enhanced by many orders of magnitude at an appropriate choice of the driving amplitude and frequency. The diffusivity demonstrates abnormal (decreasing) temperature dependence at the driving amplitudes exceeding a certain value.

Reaction rate theory in solids is modified taking into account intrinsic localized modes or discrete breathers (DBs) that can appear in crystals with sufficient anharmonicity, resulting in violation of Arrhenius' law. Large-amplitude oscillations of atoms about their equilibrium positions in the lattice cause local potentials of alternating sign, which are described in terms of time-periodic modulations of the potential barriers for chemical reactions taking place in the vicinity of DBs. The reaction rate averaged over large macroscopic volumes and times including many DBs is increased by a factor that depends on the DB statistics.

Various physical properties such as dipole moment, heat of formation and energy of the most stable formation of nucleotides and bases were calculated by PM3 (modified neglect of diatomic overlap, parametric method number 3) and AM1 (austin model 1) methods. As distinct from previous calculations, for nucleotides the interaction with neighbours is taken into account up to gradient of convergence equaling 1. The dependencies of these variables from the place in the codon and the determinative degree were obtained.

The isotope effect E of a single jump vacancy diffusion mechanism in statically disordered lattices is investigated by Monte Carlo simulation. It is found that E decreases significantly with increasing disorder. This effect is attributed to percolation processes and ensuing reduction of the effective dimension of space for the diffusing particle.
