Background: Mucormycosis, also known as black fungus, is a rare but serious fungal infection caused by mucor that belongs to Zygomycotic species. Mucor is characterized by non-septate, irregularly wide hyphae with right-angle branching. Mucor can infect different systems of the body and manifest differently depending on the location of the infection, which includes pulmonary, gastrointestinal, rhino-cerebral, and cutaneous.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world. Since the appearance of molecular medicine, the perspective of breast cancer treatment has changed, making it more successful in comparison with the treatment during previous years. Numerous ongoing trials are exploring the capacity of immunotherapy, mainly in immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), in conjunction with conventional therapies or with antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs).

Epithelioid inflammatory myofibroblastic sarcoma (EIMS), a variant of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT), is a rare malignant tumor commonly associated with anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene fusions and is aggressive in nature with local recurrence. Here, we report a case of a 23-year-old female who presented with a cough and, upon investigations, was found to have a mass in the left upper lobe of the lung detected by chest computed tomography (CT). Biopsy revealed EIMS with ALK and desmin protein expression.

Introduction Gastric carcinoma is a significant global health concern, known for its high mortality rate. HER-2 overexpression is observed in a notable proportion of gastric carcinoma and is associated with a worse prognosis. However, HER-2 expression enables targeting the protein by monoclonal antibodies that improve overall survival in HER-2-positive gastric cancers.

Glycogen storage disorders (GSDs) encompass a group of metabolic disorders resulting from deficiencies in enzymes involved in glycogen synthesis or breakdown. Among these, GSD type IX manifests due to a deficiency in phosphorylase kinase enzyme, leading to liver-specific, muscle-specific, or combined forms of the disorder. We present a case report of an exceedingly rare deletion-type mutation in the phosphorylase kinase B (PHKB) gene causing GSD type IXb, offering a comprehensive evaluation of clinical, laboratory, and molecular findings.

Epithelioid hemangioma (EH), a rare benign tumor, is documented in only a few cases in the medical literature. The complications of epithelioid hemangioma depend on the site of their presentation. If located in the eye, epithelioid hemangiomas may lead to amblyopia; in the larynx, they can cause respiratory issues; and if affecting bone, they can result in osteolytic lesions.

Introduction: This study aims to study the disparity in Cigna and Medicaid insurance holders, to secure an appointment for a patient with a headache for two days unrelieved by over-the-counter medication.

Methodology: This is a cross-sectional "secret shopper" type study, assessing the three most populated cities in seven states with the lowest Medicaid coverage and Internal Medicine specialists within a 10-mile radius, with a minimum rating of 3 stars and a willingness to accept new patients.

Results: There was a statistically significant difference in the average waiting period for those with Medicaid and Cigna in the states of Missouri, Nebraska, and Utah, as well as the total average for all seven states.

Renal angiomyolipoma (AML) is a rare benign tumor that follows an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern. Its association with polycystic kidney disease is uncommon, with only a handful of cases documented in the literature. The growth of lesions to a significant size may lead to life-threatening complications.

Introduction: Rising obesity rates and the increasing prevalence of stroke in the metabolically healthy obese and overweight (MHOO) necessitate examining its association in younger (18-44 year) populations and analyzing acute ischemic stroke (AIS) trends and outcomes in MHOO vs. metabolically healthy non-obese or overweight (MHnOO).

Methods: Data from the United States National Inpatient Sample (2016-2019) was analyzed to identify young MHOO and MHnOO AIS patients using ICD-10-CM codes.

Isolated persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) is a very rare congenital thoracic venous system anomaly and is commonly an incidental finding, usually detected during central venous access, cardiac catheterization, or cardiothoracic surgeries. This is a rare case report wherein the patient is a known case of ischemic heart disease with s/p percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) with a stent to left anterior descending (LAD) artery with in-stent re-stenosis presented with complete heart block and had an unanticipated discovery of isolated PLSVC on facing difficulty during the transvenous approach of permanent pacemaker implantation (PPI). In this case report, we inspect the challenges associated with and various clinical implications of isolated PLSVC.

Aim: To analyze the effects of the maxillary second molar and third molar eruption stages on the distalization of first molars with a modified palatal anchorage plate (MPAP) and Beneslider using three-dimensional (3D) finite element analysis.

Materials And Method: Six finite element models (FEMs) of individual maxillary molar distalization and six FEM models of en-masse maxillary arch distalization (EMAD) at different stages of the maxillary molar eruption were created from cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images of the maxillary complex, and 3D displacements of the maxillary first and second molars were evaluated with MPAP and Beneslider.

Results: On individual molar distalization, Beneslider showed first molar distal translation during the second and third molar follicular stages, while MPAP showed distal tipping of the first molar.

Introduction Serous effusion cytopathology is a minimally invasive, cost-effective procedure and plays a crucial role in diagnosing a spectrum of pathological conditions, ranging from benign to malignant. The International System for Reporting Serous Fluid Cytopathology (ISRSFC) offers a standardized framework for reporting serous effusions, aiding in better communication and clinical decision-making. Aims and objectives This study aimed to categorize effusions using the ISRSFC reporting system.

Penile fracture is one such urologic emergency that occurs when the penis is struck bluntly during sexual activity, and in less than 5-10% of cases, the concurrent urethral damage is evident, but complete transection is very rare. A 37-year-old male presented with a history of 'snap' sound and immediate detumescence of penis during intercourse, when he fell and hit the pubic bone of his partner. There was acute retention of urine, an attempt to pass a catheter failed and the patient underwent supra-pubic catheterization.

Background and objective Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a rare and malignant mesenchymal tumor characterized by skeletal muscle differentiation. While it is a common soft tissue sarcoma in children, its incidence significantly decreases with advancing age, rendering it exceptionally rare in individuals aged more than 45 years. This study aimed to shed light on the clinicopathological diversity and subtypes of RMS, thereby providing a comprehensive overview for enabling diagnostic precision and therapeutic strategies in treating this infrequently encountered malignancy in adults.

Introduction Accurate cytological assessment is pivotal for managing thyroid lesions and various global reporting systems are in use, such as the globally acclaimed The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology (TBSRTC), alongside other reporting systems namely, the Japanese Reporting System for Thyroid Aspiration Cytology (JRSTAC), Italian Consensus for the Classification and Reporting of Thyroid Cytology (ICCRTC), the UK Royal College of Pathologists System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology (UK RCPath), the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and Australian Society of Cytology Classification System (RCPA/ASC). Notably, variations exist among these systems which are influenced by country-specific statistics. Given the lack of large-scale data in India and the difference in prevalence of diagnostic entities compared to the western population, this study aimed to identify reporting systems suitable for the Indian population focusing on distinguishing neoplastic from non-neoplastic lesions.
