Background: To construct a model based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features and histological and clinical variables for the prediction of pathology-detected extracapsular extension (pECE) in patients with prostate cancer (PCa).

Methods: We performed a prospective 3 T MRI study comparing the clinical and MRI data on pECE obtained from patients treated using robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) at our institution. The covariates under consideration were prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, the patient's age, prostate volume, and MRI interpretative features for predicting pECE based on the Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS) version 2.

Article Synopsis
  • Remote care and telehealth can enhance healthcare access for patients with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases, especially highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic which necessitated alternatives to in-person visits.
  • A multidisciplinary task force developed points to consider (PtC) for implementing telehealth, supported by research and group consensus through voting.
  • The formulated guidelines emphasize tailoring telehealth to patient needs, ensuring healthcare teams are equipped and trained, and resolving barriers to effective use, aiming to improve care quality and accessibility for individuals with RMD.

This study was performed to evaluate the profile of overweight individuals with pre-diabetes enrolled in PREVIEW who were unable to achieve a body weight loss of ≥8% of the baseline value in response to a 2-month low-energy diet (LED). Their baseline profile reflected potential stress-related vulnerability that predicted a reduced response of body weight to a LED programme. The mean daily energy deficit maintained by unsuccessful weight responders of both sexes was less than the estimated level in successful female (656 vs.

Article Synopsis
  • The Rho kinase (ROCK) signaling pathway influences key cellular processes like cell growth and structure, especially in the eye.
  • ROCK's role in corneal endothelial health and its impact on the outflow of fluid in glaucomatous conditions have made it a focus for new drug development.
  • The article reviews existing research on ROCK's involvement in eye diseases and discusses the potential benefits of ROCK inhibitors in treating these conditions.

Medical and dental curricula, together with anatomical sciences courses, are increasingly having to change, mainly because there is a drive to being what is termed, without adequate definition, "clinically relevant." The concept of "clinical anatomy" has accordingly been invented and it is expected that, at all times, the teaching of anatomy is directly focused on clinical scenarios, meaning almost invariably the disease-based model of medicine and dentistry. Furthermore, students are not expected to have a detailed knowledge of gross anatomy and the time devoted to teaching and learning the subject has decreased significantly.

There is increasingly a call for clinical relevance in the teaching of biomedical sciences within all health care courses. However, this presupposes that there is a clear understanding of what can be considered core material within the curricula. To date, the anatomical sciences have been relatively poorly served by the development of core syllabuses, particularly for specialized core syllabuses such as neuroanatomy.
