The venom of Colombian specimens of the rear-fanged snake Pseudoboa neuwiedii contains proteolytic and phospholipase A (PLA) activities, but is devoid of esterases. Mass spectrometric analysis of electrophoretic bands indicated that this venom contains C-type lectins (CTL), cysteine-rich secretory proteins (CRiSP), PLA, snake venom metalloproteinases (SVMP), and snake venom matrix metalloproteinases (svMMP). In this investigation, we extended our characterization of P.

Purpose: National Wilms Tumor Study-5 (NWTS-5) and AREN0321 evaluated the outcomes of children with rhabdoid tumor of the kidney (RTK) and malignant rhabdoid tumor of soft tissues (MRT).
Patients And Methods: Eligible patients with RTK were enrolled prospectively on NWTS-5 (1995-2002) and treated with carboplatin and etoposide alternating with cyclophosphamide (Regimen RTK). Patients with RTK or MRT were enrolled on AREN0321 (2005-2012) and received vincristine, doxorubicin, and cyclophosphamide alternating with carboplatin, cyclophosphamide, and etoposide (Regimens UH-1 or dose-reduced Revised UH-1).

Background: the riverside population lives in a vulnerable social situation, shaped by geographical, economic, social, and educational aspects that have repercussions on health literacy, the limitations of which can compromise Quality of Life. These specificities influence the actions of Primary Health Care, especially in the rural context. This study aimed to assess the factors associated with Functional Health Literacy and Quality of Life among riverside residents of the Brazilian Amazon who use Primary Health Care.

Objective: To analyze factors associated with full vaccination coverage with valid doses, in children from four state capitals and three other cities in Southeast Brazil.
Method: Analysis of a population survey conducted in 2020-2021, with a sample stratified according to socioeconomic levels of children born in 2017-2018, with data collected through photographic records of their vaccination cards. Odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (95%CI) for full vaccination coverage were estimated based on the characteristics of the family, mother and child.

We report a case of computed tomography-guided percutaneous radiofrequency ablation of a bleeding renal angiomyolipoma. Radiofrequency ablation was performed as an alternative to partial nephrectomy and super-selective renal artery embolization for ruptured renal angiomyolipoma with slow persistent bleeding in a patient with elevated serum creatinine levels and other comorbidities. Computed tomography-guided radiofrequency ablation successfully stopped the active hemorrhage and did not affect long-term renal function during the 3-year follow period.

Psoriasis (PsO) is a chronic, systemic, and autoimmune dermatologic condition characterized by dry, scaly, and erythematous plaques on the skin. PsO can present in various forms, including guttate (small, round lesions commonly over the upper trunk and extremities that can be raised and scaly), inverse (smooth plaques of inflamed skin within skin folds of the groin, buttock, and breasts), pustular (white painful pustules within red inflamed blotches widespread over the body), and erythrodermic (red rash present over most of the body). Individuals with PsO can present differently, with unique symptoms and patterns on the skin.

Background: Although the oral health status has improved in developed countries in recent years, oral diseases are still unequally distributed across socio-economic groups. Research on the impact of socio-economic factors on oral health care among older adults in Europe, including Portugal, remains limited. The main aim of this study was to investigate the association between socio-economic factors and oral health indicators in Portuguese older adults.

Background: The capacity of tertiary general hospitals to prevent and treat respiratory infectious diseases plays a key role in effectively containing the spread of major epidemics within hospitals and ensuring early treatment for patients. This, in turn, helps control the transmission of diseases at the societal level and safeguard public health. However, there is a lack of detailed indicators for assessing hospitals' capacity in this area, which makes it difficult to evaluate and manage practices.

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) diagnostic monitoring is paramount to clinical decision-making and the host biomarkers appears to play a significant role. The currently available diagnostic technology for TB detection is inadequate. In the present study, we aimed to identify biomarkers for diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) using urinary metabolomic and proteomic analysis.

Neurodynamic models that simulate how micro-level alterations propagate upward to impact macroscopic neural circuits and overall brain function may offer valuable insights into the pathological mechanisms of schizophrenia (SCZ). In this study, we integrated a neurodynamic model with the classical Contrastive Variational Autoencoder (CVAE) to extract and evaluate macro-scale SCZ-specific features, including subject-level, region-level parameters, and time-varying states. Firstly, we demonstrated the robust fitting of the model within our multi-site dataset.

Background: In STREAM-1 (Strategic Reperfusion Early After Myocardial Infarction), excess intracranial hemorrhage occurred in patients aged ≥75 years receiving full-dose tenecteplase as part of a pharmaco-invasive strategy, whereas no further intracranial hemorrhage occurred after halving the tenecteplase dose. In STREAM-2 (Second Strategic Reperfusion Early After Myocardial Infarction), half-dose tenecteplase was an effective and safe pharmaco-invasive strategy in older patients with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction presenting within <3 hours, compared with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). We prespecified evaluating the efficacy and safety of a half-dose versus full-dose pharmaco-invasive strategy and compared the half-dose pharmaco-invasive strategy to primary PCI in patients aged ≥75 years.

Postingestive nutrient stimulation conditions food preferences through striatal dopamine and may be associated with blunted brain responses in obesity. In a cross-sectional study, we tested flavor-nutrient conditioning (FNC) with maltodextrin-enriched yogurt, with maltodextrin previously optimized for concentration and dextrose equivalents (n = 57), and to mask texture cues (n = 102). After conditioning, healthy volunteers (n = 52) increased preference for maltodextrin-paired (+102 kcal, CS+), relative to control (+1.

This study translated and culturally adapted the Wheelchair Use Confidence Scale for Manual Wheelchair Users (WheelCon-M) and the Wheelchair Use Confidence Scale for Power Wheelchair Users (WheelCon-P) into Arabic and examined their reliability and validity. Internal consistency and test-retest reliability were examined, and concurrent validity was evaluated using Pearson correlation coefficients with the Arabic versions of the Functioning Everyday with a Wheelchair (FEW) and the Functional Mobility Assessment (FMA). The Arabic translated versions of the WheelCon-M (WheelCon-M-A) and the WheelCon-P (WheelCon-P-A) were administered to 33 adult wheelchair users.
