  • Pregnant women have a significantly increased demand for iron during the second and third trimesters, leading to a higher risk of anemia, which is difficult to manage through diet alone.
  • A randomized controlled trial involving 139 participants compared the effectiveness of iron supplements alone (Group B) with those supplemented by educational handouts (Group A) to assess compliance and changes in hemoglobin levels.
  • Results showed that while the majority of participants experienced an increase in hemoglobin, compliance issues were common in both groups, with Group A showing slightly better compliance; however, the differences in hemoglobin improvements and compliance were statistically insignificant.
