Background: England operates a National Data Opt-Out (NDOO) for the secondary use of confidential health data for research and planning. We hypothesised that public awareness and support for the secondary use of health data and the NDOO would vary by participant demography and healthcare experience. We explored patient/public awareness and perceptions of secondary data use, grouping potential researchers into National Health Service (NHS), academia or commercial.

ReLayer: a Free, Online Tool for Extracting Retinal Thickness From Cross-Platform OCT Images.

Purpose: To describe and evaluate a free, online tool for automatically segmenting optical coherence tomography (OCT) images from different devices and computing summary measures such as retinal thickness.

Methods: ReLayer (https://relayer.online) is an online platform to which OCT scan images can be uploaded and analyzed.

Global variations and time trends in the prevalence of primary open angle glaucoma (POAG): a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Systematic review of published population based surveys to examine the relationship between primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) prevalence and demographic factors. A literature search identified population-based studies with quantitative estimates of POAG prevalence (to October 2014). Multilevel binomial logistic regression of log-odds of POAG was used to examine the effect of age and gender among populations of different geographical and ethnic origins, adjusting for study design factors.
