Introduction: Neovascular age-related macular degeneration is a global public-health concern, associated with a considerable burden to individuals, healthcare systems, and society. The objective of this study was to understand different perspectives on the challenges associated with the clinical management of neovascular age-related macular degeneration, which could elucidate measures to comprehensively improve clinical care and outcomes.
Methods: A survey was carried out of patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration, their providers, and clinic staff in 77 clinics across 24 countries on six continents, from a diverse range of healthcare systems, settings, and reimbursement models.

Introduction: In contrast with patients receiving therapy for retinal disease during clinical trials, those treated in routine clinical practice experience various challenges (including administrative, clinic, social, and patient-related factors) that can often result in high patient and clinic burden, and contribute to suboptimal visual outcomes. The objective of this study was to understand the challenges associated with clinical management of diabetic macular edema from the perspectives of patients, healthcare providers, and clinic staff, and identify opportunities to improve eye care for people with diabetes.
Methods: We conducted a survey of patients with diabetic macular edema, providers, and clinic staff in 78 clinics across 24 countries on six continents, representing a diverse range of individuals, healthcare systems, settings, and reimbursement models.

Background: The aim of this study was to describe features of disease activity in patients with treated stable macular neovascularisation (MNV) in neovascular age related macular degeneration (nAMD) using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).
Methods: Thirty-two eyes of 32 patients with nAMD were included in this prospective, observational study. These patients were undergoing treatment with aflibercept on a treat-and-extend regimen attending an extension to a 12-week treatment interval.

Purpose: To explore the characteristics of choroidal tissue in patients with and without central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) using an automated system of image analysis to determine known and novel metrics.
Methods: This was a retrospective case-control analysis of optical coherence tomography scans of patients seen at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, UK, comparing patients with active CSC to an age-matched and gender-matched group with no CSC using a purpose-built automated system of image analysis. The expert system segments and measures established and novel features of choroid using a combination of thresholding, noise removal, and morphological techniques.

2020 will forever be marked as a year that brought with it an unprecedented number of challenges for the healthcare community. COVID-19 had monumental effects on all fields, including ophthalmology. Considering this we are truly thankful for all of the support we have received, despite the pressures brought about by the pandemic.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to develop a statistical model to determine the visual significance of subretinal fluid (SRF) in combination with other constructed optical coherence tomography (OCT) features in patients with wet age-related macular degeneration.
Methods: The project used labelled data from 1211 OCTs of patients with neovascular macular degeneration (nAMD) attending the macular treatment centre of Manchester Royal Eye Hospital to build a statistical model to determine vision for any virtual, constructed OCT. A four-dimensional plot was created to represent the visual impact of SRF in OCTs in the context of the associated OCT characteristics of atrophy and subretinal hyperreflective material (SHRM).

Spectral-domain OCT (SD-OCT) provides high resolution images enabling identification of individual retinal layers. We included 32,923 participants aged 40-69 years old from UK Biobank. Questionnaires, physical examination, and eye examination including SD-OCT imaging were performed.

Purpose: To develop a generative mathematical model of wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and model the impact of injections of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor to virtual patients with the condition.
Methods: We isolated key pathophysiological components of macular degeneration in terms of macular edema development and response to anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) agents. We developed mathematical models for each of these components using constants determined from published biological experimentation.

Purpose: To develop a neural network for the estimation of visual acuity from optical coherence tomography (OCT) images of patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and to demonstrate its use to model the impact of specific controlled OCT changes on vision.
Design: Artificial intelligence (neural network) study.
Methods: We assessed 1400 OCT scans of patients with neovascular AMD.

Purpose: We describe a pediatric visual field (VF) test based on a computer game where software and hardware combine to provide an enjoyable test experience.
Methods: The test software consists of a platform-based computer game presented to the central VF. A storyline was created around the game as was a structure surrounding the computer monitor to enhance patients' experience.
