Background: Most surgeons agree that symptomatic mediastinal bronchogenic cysts should be resected, and complete resection is considered mandatory to avoid recurrence. However, a symptomatic mediastinal bronchogenic cyst sometimes adheres to a vital organ, making complete resection hazardous. In such case, surgical resection using cardiopulmonary bypass should be performed to achieve complete resection.

Background: Adenoid cystic carcinoma of the lung grows gradually, and spreads along the bronchial wall, often requiring tracheobronchoplastic procedure during surgery; however, incomplete resection occasionally occurs due to positive surgical margins. To avoid incomplete resection, effort should be exerted to confirm the extent of airway invasion of the tumor before surgery. Herein, we present the utility of combined treatment with bronchoscopic electrocautery wire snare for the endobronchial tumor prior to sleeve lobectomy with curative resection for patients with adenoid cystic carcinoma of the lung.

Discontinuation of palliative radiotherapy due to a patient's declining general condition poses a clinical dilemma for palliative care physicians. This study aimed to investigate the survival duration of patients whose performance status (PS) deteriorated during palliative radiotherapy and inform decisions regarding early treatment discontinuation. We retrospectively analyzed data from patients referred from our institute's palliative care department who underwent ≥10 fractions of palliative radiotherapy between March 2017 and December 2021.
