Photocatalytic transformation of nitrate (NO) in wastewater into ammonia (NH) is a challenge in the detoxification and recycling of limited nitrogen resources. In particular, previously reported photocatalysts cannot promote the reaction using water as an electron donor. Herein, we report that copper-doped titanium dioxide (Cu-TiO) powders, prepared via the sol-gel method and subsequent calcination, promote NO-to-NH reduction in water.

Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a family of phenotypically myogenic paediatric cancers consisting of two major subtypes: fusion-positive (FP) RMS, most commonly involving the PAX3::FOXO1 fusion gene, formed by the fusion of paired box 3 (PAX3) and forkhead box O1 (FOXO1) genes, and fusion-negative (FN) RMS, lacking these gene fusions. In humans, DNA methylation patterns distinguish these two subtypes as well as mutation-associated subsets within these subtypes. To investigate the biological factors responsible for these methylation differences, we profiled DNA methylation in RMS tumours derived from genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs) in which various driver mutations were introduced into different myogenic lineages.

Electrochemically converting nitrate (NO ) to value-added ammonia (NH) is a complex process involving an eight-electron transfer and numerous intermediates, presenting a significant challenge for optimization. A multi-elemental synergy strategy to regulate the local electronic structure at the atomic level is proposed, creating a broad adsorption energy landscape in high-entropy alloy (HEA) catalysts. This approach enables optimal adsorption and desorption of various intermediates, effectively overcoming energy-scaling limitations for efficient NH electrosynthesis.

The goal of this research is to develop and characterize low-cost NHI doped polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-4-ethyl-4-methylmorpholiniumbromide (ionic liquid) anion exchange membranes (AEM) and its application for membrane cathode assembly. Physical characterization like FTIR, POM, and XRD notified the functional groups, basic structure, and amorphosity of the produced membrane, and it was employed in single-chambered microbial fuel cells (sMFCs) as a separator. Aiming to enable online freshness-monitoring of meat within modified-atmosphere package, we developed a ratiometric array that was fluorescently responsive to volatile organic compounds-ammonia (NH) released by protein decaying. The array was consisted of two 3 mm × 6 mm rectangles precisely and uniformly printed with fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) as indicator and rhodamine B (RhB) as internal reference on the filter-paper, respectively. The fluorescence intensity of the array area was calibrated according to Green/Red ratio of the digitalized pixels extracted from images facilitated by a smartphone.

Carbonization (Argon atmosphere, 900 °C, 2 h) of heteroatom-enriched pyridine-bridged inorganic-organic hybrid material (HPHM) resulted in the formation of a high specific surface area (SA of 1080 m g) carbonaceous material designated as HPHMC900. The HPHMC900 serves as an effective electrocatalyst for the reduction of nitrate in an aqueous environment to ammonia (NORR). Importantly, HPHMC900 demonstrated fast kinetics for the NORR with a low Tafel slope of 70 mV decade.

Electrocatalytic NO-to-NH reduction (NORR) offers an attractive way to remedy polluted NO and produce value-added NH. In this study, main-group Sn single atoms anchored on S-vacancy-rich MoS (Sn/MoS) are explored as a highly selective NORR catalyst. Combined theoretical computations and in situ spectroscopic measurements reveal that the isolated Sn sites of Sn/MoS can not only promote NO-to-NH activation and hydrogenation but also favor NH desorption and restrict H adsorption, thus enabling a highly selective NORR for NH synthesis.

Recent research has highlighted widespread dysregulation of alternative polyadenylation in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal lobar degeneration with TDP-43 pathology (FTLD-TDP). Here, we identify significant disruptions to 3` UTR polyadenylation in the ALS/FTLD-TDP mouse model rNLS8 that correlate with changes in gene expression and protein levels through the re-analysis of published RNA sequencing and proteomic data. A subset of these changes are shared with TDP-43 knock-down mice suggesting depletion of endogenous mouse TDP-43 is a contributor to polyadenylation dysfunction in rNLS8 mice.
