Introduction: Parkinson's disease (PD) is primarily driven by the protein Alpha Synuclein (A-Syn) accumulation. Synphilin-1 protein, encoded by the SNCAIP gene, which co-localizes with A-Syn is a known risk factor for PD. Retinitis pigmentosa (RP), is a cluster of retinal degenerative disorders, and Cyclic Nucleotide Gated channel subunit Alpha 1 (CNGA1) is one of the initial genes associated with RP.

A Study of Autologous Non-Cultured Epidermal Suspension (NCES) Transplant in Patients with Stable Vitiligo without the Use of NB-UVB.

Vitiligo is a common form of localized depigmentation and an important public health problem which affects around one percent of the global population and about two percent of the population in India. The present study aimed to document the results and side effects of non-cultured melanocyte transplant in patients with stable vitiligo without post-procedure use of NB UVB. The present study was a prospective interventional study conducted among patients with stable vitiligo who were attending the outpatient department (OPD) of dermatology of a tertiary center of Delhi.

Link between human ABO blood groups with diseases influencing blood donors and recipients frequency at RBTC, Delhi, India.

Blood groups had associations with many diseases that affect blood transfusion services by increasing or decreasing the blood demand of particular blood group. The present study was designed to compare the frequency of ABO and Rh blood groups among blood donors and blood component recipients. The ABO and Rh(D) blood groups of donors and recipients were determined using Gel card method.

Prevalence of TTI among Indian blood donors.

Transfusion Transmissible Infections (TTIs) such as human immune-deficiency virus (HIV-I/II), hepatitis B virus (HBV), Hepatitis C virus (HCV), Malaria parasite (MP) and syphilis can spread through contaminated blood or blood products. The present study was designed to analyze the prevalence of TTIs and their association with blood group, among the blood donors of Delhi. Blood group was determined by hem-agglutination using Gel card.

Alloantibody among Thalassemia patients receiving multiple blood transfusions at a tertiary care hospital in India.

Regular blood transfusion is a lifesaving treatment for thalassemia patients; however, it exposes them to multiple alloantigens. The present study was designed to assess the frequency of alloantibodies in thalassemia patients receiving multiple blood transfusions. Blood samples were tested by Gel card method for ABO, Rh, Direct Antiglobulin Test (DAT), Indirect Antiglobulin Test (IAT), Auto Control (AC) and presence of alloantibody.

Genomic Analyses of a Fungemia Outbreak Caused by Lodderomyces elongisporus in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Delhi, India.

Lodderomyces elongisporus is a recently emerging yeast pathogen predominantly reported in adult patients who had immunosuppression and/or intravenous access devices. Here, we report a fungemia outbreak caused by in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in Delhi, India, from September 2021 to February 2022. All 10 neonates had low birthweight, and nine of the patients survived after amphotericin B treatment.

Association of Catechol-O-Methyltransferase Gene rs4680 Polymorphism and Levodopa Induced Dyskinesia in Parkinson's Disease: A Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review.

Introduction: Long-term levodopa therapy for Parkinson's disease (PD) can cause levodopa induced dyskinesia (LID). Genetic predisposition has a significant role to play in inter-individual heterogeneity in the clinical manifestation of LID. Despite accumulating evidence for the role of COMT gene polymorphism (rs4680) as a genetic basis for LID, to date results have been inconsistent.

Wound Infiltration and Instillation Technique for Postoperative Analgesia Using Bupivacaine in Patients Undergoing Lumbar Spine Surgeries.

Background: Pain relief after surgery continues to be a major medical challenge in clinical practice. Lumbar spine surgery is associated with significant postoperative pain. Providing optimal analgesia locally in the area of surgical wound, with little systemic side-effects, is a favourable option and has become an intrinsic part of multimodal analgesia.

Therapeutic potential of N-acetyl cysteine during COVID-19 epoch.

N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) is a promising drug for prophylaxis and treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) based on antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms. Further studies with cautious approach are needed to establish the benefits and risks before considering NAC as an adjuvant treatment for COVID-19.

A validation study of early warning system in high-risk pregnant women.

High-risk obstetric patients have chances of deterioration which can be detected by any early warning score. This study was aimed to assess the suitability of the Obstetrics National Early Warning System (ONEWS) for the pregnant women. This prospective study was conducted on 500 high-risk pregnant women attending a tertiary care teaching hospital.

Ultrasonographic measurement of the transcerebellar diameter for gestational age estimation in the third trimester.

Background: Ultrasonographic estimation of gestational age is done routinely by using fetal biometric parameters, such as the biparietal diameter (BPD), femur length (FL), abdominal circumference (AC), and head circumference (HC). Gestational dating by ultrasound is reliable in the 1st trimester, but discrepancies increase to more than 3 weeks in the 3rd trimester.

Aims And Objectives: To study the accuracy of gestational age estimation by the transcerebellar diameter (TCD) in the 3rd trimester of singleton pregnancies whose gestational age is known.

Transbronchial lung cryobiopsy by twin bronchoscopes (kissing technique).

Objective: To introduce a new & novel method of obtaining big lung tissue samples by transbronchial lung cryobiopsy by twin bronchoscopes (kissing technique) in an advanced interventional pulmonology suite.

Methods: In patients of diffuse parenchymal lung diseases, transbronchial lung cryobiopsy were taken using this novel approach using simultaneously two bronchoscopes under C- arm guidance under conscious sedation. First, a standard fibreoptic bronchoscope was inserted intranasally and fixed just above the area to be biopsied, then fogarty's catheter was introduced through FOB's suction channel and protruded it at the biopsy site.

We are presenting an interesting case of Pneumonia, who after good initial response deteriorated with recurrent hemoptysis. On culture of bronchial aspirate, patient had coexisting fungal infection and on repeat bronchoscopy showed a unique and rare picture. There was a dancing ball in RUL which was moving.

DISPOSABLE COVID BOX - A new invention.

Objective: To introduce a new method to do safe bronchoscopy, a highly aerosol generating procedure through disposable COVID box in this difficult COVID time.

Methods: We have introduced an unbelievably cheap and effective method "DISPOSABLE COVID BOX". We took an acrylic board 70 × 20 cm and attached 3 bars 32 cm long and slide it under the side of the patient.
