Vildagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor is effective in reducing HbA1c levels in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) when administered as monotherapy, dual or triple combination therapy. In India, Vildagliptin is commonly prescribed in T2DM patients because it reduces mean amplitude of glycemic excursion (MAGE), has lower risk of hypoglycemia and is weight neutral. Early combination therapy with vildagliptin and metformin is effective and well-tolerated in patients with T2DM, regardless of age or ethnicity.

Safety, tolerability, and tumor response to IT LSAM-PTX delivered by endoscopic ultrasound-fine needle injection were evaluated in subjects with unresectable locally advanced pancreatic cancer (LAPC).

Background: Congress established the Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) Program to reduce unnecessary advanced imaging studies. Organizations that wish to develop AUC can apply to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to qualify as provider-led entities (PLEs) under this program. Variable methods, content, and formatting of PLE-generated AUC could lead to clinician uncertainty about whether an advanced imaging test is appropriate or not.

Background: Soft tissue reconstruction of the leg should be relatively easy to perform, utilize viable tissues similar in skin texture and thickness to those lost, leave the most inconspicuous donor-site defect possible, and be performed without compromising other body parts. Evolution in flap surgery has enabled fasciocutaneous, adipofascial, and super-thin flaps to be harvested for the purpose of reconstruction, thereby minimizing morbidity from muscle inclusion into the flap. The authors present their experience with propeller flaps for reconstruction of soft tissue defects in the lower third of the leg.
